Yes coke will dissolve a nail if left long enough. The acid from your stomach will dissolve a nail much faster though.

Not trying to defend coke though. Me and my addiction to that shit have been fighting for a few years now. I manage to quit and then bounce back a month or so later. It's the first 2 weeks that are really hard with the headaches and inability to sleep though. lack of sleep makes me want a coke even more. Bloody caffein

Gave up soft drinks in 99/2000. I have too much dental work in my mouth to ever entertain drinking that liquid tooth decay again. The idea of pissing out kidney stones ain't too pleasing either. When I quit, a good number of the aches and pains in my shoulders went away. That is approaching 7 years ago. They've not returned since.

If you actually pay attention to the numbers (which the nutters never do) the study that found the worst side effects in monkey trials was dosing aspartame at levels equal to a 150 lb person drinking NINE THOUSAND CANS of diet coke a day. For months at a time. Guess what, ANYTHING is toxic at that kind of dosage. Plain water will kill you at far lower overdoses than that. So will vitamins and minerals.
