Road Trip

I want to go on a road trip while its still possible. Like a month of just driving to places and wasting energy? Does that make me a monster?

Go for it. Sadly, it's the only way to see much of America.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('emersonbiggins', 'G')o for it. Sadly, it's the only way to see much of America.

Not the only way. I once read a book titled "Walking across America" that was, like you can imagine, about a guy that walked across the States. And it makes a convincing argument that it's the best way to really get to know the people.

Of course, you can only do that if you are willing to spend a year or two of your life in the project...

i work at taget we have a combined building with rainbow ive seen people get in there car and drive 30 feet to a new parking space. Spent more time walking to there car to move it and than walk into rainbow. Walking is unamerican. Why walk when you can drive. Anywayz back on topic. What do you guys think about my road trip and where should i go? This could be my last chance.

I would love to do a roadtrip by electric car sometime. When mine is finished, it's certainly going to be attempted.

What is the deal with "road trips" in the USA?

It seems to a pointless and energy intensive activity.

Why not just book a 1st class sleeper on the train and travel there in comfort and maybe even met some new friends on the train.

when you get to your stop grab a local bus or other local public transport to your destination. Doing this really helps you to get to know the area and is good exercise at time due to some walking from bus/truck stop to the hotel or friends place.

I normally just use the train for any long distance travel even if just for fun. im a rail/mass transit fan anyway

One of the greatest experiences of my life was when I finished high school. I took a year off and hitch hiked across North America, doing odd jobs along the way. I highly reccomend it.

I will miss the road trip when gasoline becomes too expensive. I saw a great deal of America on road trips when I was a kid, and continue to do so whenever I get vacation time. It now costs almost twice as much as air travel, but it's the journey that makes a road trip great, not the destination.
