$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Geko45', 'Y')ou know, I understand the frustration with mainstream Christianity, but is it really necessary to bash people's faith, a faith that I share (and I am PO aware)?
It was their stupidity I was bashing. If that had been a Buddhist message board instead of a Baptist message board, the critique still would have applied.
However, let's face facts: Christians are a far larger, more vocal, and more politically significant group in the US than Buddhists.
Therefore (and especially in light of the decision of many Christians to take a more active role in politics) they are fair game, and therefore should be prepared to accept attacks, just like any politically involved group in the US should.
Just because they use religion as their organizing principle doesn't give them a free pass by any means.
For the record, I find Jesus Christ to be an interesting and divisive person, and its my belief that what he said and stood for has been greatly distorted by the many churches that preach in his name.
It is my belief that if Christ came back tomorrow, some of the first people looking to nail him to another cross would be the most extreme of the evangelical Christians. I see much of the Pharisees in them.
