PeakOil is You

PeakOil is You

I am now convinced.

What's on your mind?
General interest discussions, not necessarily related to depletion.

I am now convinced.

As you may know I haven't posted here for a while.

I have been using my time researching Peak Oil rather than chatting away on PO forums.

This has paid off - through a chain of personal contacts, I eventually managed to reach someone very high up in the oil industry.

Initially he wouldn't say much but simply asked about MY opinion of Peak Oil ... and what date I had in mind.

I told him, expecting him to simply laugh and quote a date far, far in the future.

However it didn't turn out like that - he quoted a date which is coming Real Soon Now.

We also discussed some related issues, most of which didn't give me any sort of compensatory warm feeling ...

To be honest I was quite startled because deep down I have suspected that "Peak Oilers" have a psychological need for "instant doom" and that PO might be quite a way out.

Anyway, I am now convinced that Peak Oil is real and is coming soon, and not just a silly panic like Y2K.

This awareness now leaves me free to research the possible effects of Peak Oil, and also possible mitigation strategies and also any possible economic opportunities.

I hope this tiny snippet is helpful to you.

I am now re-entering "lurk mode" and so won't be making any further posts for some time ...

Come on. I would be very interrested if you could give us more specifics.

Me too
The problem is, of course, that not only is economics bankrupt, but it has always been nothing more than politics in disguise... economics is a form of brain damage.

Why tease us so? I want to run around in a circle in a mad panic.

Well, he said he isn't going to say any more. My guess would be that "real soon" means before 2010.

Hmm... let's see, how many threads we've had here on this site linking articles to oil production decline? Your epiphany or insider talk is a bit late, get with it man.

Are you going to post a thread next week how you've discovered the Federal Reserve system of fraud or how 9/11 was an inside job?

Its the usual Peak Oil foreplay. However, with all the teasing found on this board, I find it rare that it ever leads to a peak oil orgasm.

Anyone noticing a tendency for middle aged men to be seeking attention in more exuberant ways recently? We are meant to believe his motivation for this post was to help others? No he's reading this thread anonymously appreciating the attention... because he is getting none from the wife... try role playing with your wife before you do it in public.. it will help us and you... I don't need confirmation from some anonymous oil insider to know we are in trouble.

The day the Aussie government offered to pay for every car to be converted to LPG convinced me.

They could have offered to remove some tax from petrol if it was only price that was the issue. They could have offered a yearly rebate of $500 or so a year to ease the financial burden. These would have been the most politically popular things they could have done if this was an election ploy.

But no, they offered to pay $2,000 for ever car in Australia to be converted to LPG.

Think about it...........................

Of course they do, including the two Texas oil men who are at the head of the U.S. government.
