Gas Drops People Forget

Unread postby evilmonkeyspanker » Sat 16 Sep 2006, 00:46:27

We are a fickle group of forum members. Gas is now down 25 percent from its high and all of a sudden we are now down over 40 percent in posts from the normal.

Why do you think I'm so convinced I'm correct about peoples reactions. Every time something like this happens, and I'm sure it will happen at least once or twice more before the decline becomes obvious, people are going to just go right on cranking up demand. Even with an economic slowdown, you can't totally kill the demand going on. And any sign of relief and people forget the giant run up.

I'm glad that gas prices are going down, it means that PO is BS. I can finally stop worrying and get back to my favorite pastime: setting out hundreds of cookie sheets full of gasoline in the backyard and watching them evaporate in the hot Florida sunshine.

$63.56 at this moment.

Some of us can see through it.

Like Matt Simmons says "we pay more for milk and water".
Its still cheap.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('evilmonkeyspanker', 'W')e are a fickle group of forum members. Gas is now down 25 percent from its high and all of a sudden we are now down over 40 percent in posts from the normal.

The funniest thing to me is all the conspiricy theorists now saying its a 'republican plot' to get re-elected. What a load, if you look at any graph for the last three years or longer you can clearly see that this happens every year! Worse, if you just use your brain to access your memory you would know this is all perfectly boringly normal patterns repeating.

Once we hit the limits things change, so far we have squeked by always under the limits.
$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Alfred Tennyson', 'W')e are not now that strength which in old days
Moved earth and heaven, that which we are, we are;
One equal temper of heroic hearts,
Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will
To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield.

I know what you are saying but you must leave some room for a conspiracy wiggle or two .....no??

We are all very aware of BS of the past so how can we not allow for some manipulation, control etc etc?

Even down to the sentiment that republicans are "good for business" and we all "think" many of them are on the way out to be replaced with democrats (diebold permitting) thus thats bad for business and on and on it goes.

We might want to believe this cannot be affecting the price yet historically poor consumer confidence is bad so poor investor confidence is bad as well.
I like to believe that part of the price drop is cyclical while part of it is the fact US economy (and the worlds) is about to go into recession.

This is just one aspect of limits to growth.
Being a PO hangout...this isnt hard to conceive right?

It's so fun, isn't it?

Well evilmonkeyspanker

and I am still not convinced that is your real name.

I got to go with Tanada on this, we are just witnessing normal supply patterns. There were no major hurricanes this summer and the prospect that there would be was built into the price. The storms never happened so the price decline is probably going to be more than a typical year.

But overall PO is a certainty. It is just not as fun to talk about it when it looks like it may be awhile before we see another price spike.
