I agree that house sharing is probably a better idea than house swapping.

You recall right. I spent 6 months in Lebanon in 1998 and 7 months in 2000. I served in with the Irish Army in the Tibnin area of South Lebanon. I have very good memories of my time there and met many great people.

Nice to know that. Did you get a chance to visit the touristic places and learn about Lebanese culture? Or were you perhaps too busy?

Also, a lot of people here think Lebanese hate Americans or are hostile towards Westerners; did you feel unwelcome at any point?

BTW, if you feel like coming back once things get more stable, just let me know and I'll arrange to be here to show you around. You can stay at my house too.
