I wonder if you've ever heard of CCA? The initials stand for Club Corporation of America. It was founded something like 30 years ago as a private corporation that owned a series of country clubs, city clubs, and golf resorts - mainly in the U.S., but in other countries as well. It was valued at well over a billion.
The founder died, and his son took over. The corporation continued to grow. But there has been a recent development - it has been put up for sale through Goldman (according to my sources).
Fundamentally, CCA and your restaurant depend on the same sort of disposable income, perhaps from different market segments. But isn't it odd that the owner of such a large and successful organization appears to be liquidating at the same time your restaurant is declining?
