WHY DID I HAVE TO FIND OUT ABOUT PEAK OIL ALL ON MY OWN? I JUST HAPPENED TO STUMPLE INTO IT, I KINDA HEARD ABOUT IT B4 BUT I DIDN'T KNOW ITS EFFECTS WAS THIS BAD!! WHEN I STARTED READING IT ONLY THEN DID I FIND OUT THE TRUTH!! IM SO SHOCKED THAT YHIS COMMUNITY DID NOT INFORM ME QUICKER!!! WHY SO LATE, WE ONLY HAVE A FEW MORE YEARS LEFT!!! WHY NOTHING IN THE MEDIA?? WHY ISN'T ANYONE ON THE STREETS BEING MADE AWARE OF THIS!! IM VERY DISAPPOINTED IN THIS COMMUNITY!!

U SHOULD DO MORE TO GET THE MESSAGE OUT THERE, AS SOON AS I FOUND OUT I HAVE BEEN ALL OVER THE PLACE TRYING TO TELL AS MANY PEOPLE AS I CAN!! THIS IS A MESSAGE WHICH NEEDS TO REACH THE WHOLE WORLD!! SO FOR GOD SAKE PLEASE GET OF UR ASSES AND DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS!!!! INFORM THE PUBLIC!! GET ORGANIZED!!!!!!!!!!! :!:

You are not so different then us.
try to Understand that we are all addicted.

try to Understand that this forum is just one of many ways to get the word out.

try to Understand that some people do not want to get the word out because they believe that there is only so much room upon the hill and that they may be right.

Many of us have chosen to be the messenger of peak oil.
Many of us have suffered yet most continue.

Now go do your share of suffering and come back so we can discuss.
This way we can all learn just how perfectly insane people truly are and what if anything can be done about it.

Why don't I go and say everywhere about PO?
1. Very few would listen.
2. Many would consider me to be a maniac or something...
3. Peoples hate bad news (in past they often shot messanger of bad news, or at least lashed him).
4. This knowledge will not help the public much. If it was widely distributed and officially endorsed, massive panic would result faster, than need to be. No positive gain under this scenario.
5. Authorities DO KNOW about this, therefore some preparations are already made (for example Dick Cheney sold big part of his dollar denominated assets and purchased those denominated in Swiss franks...I love to be sarcastic sometimes).

I've tried several times to convince my own family. Most don't consider it possible, or they act like it's just not important. Because after all the goverment will fix it right? :cry:

My father thinks it's a load of crock and 'We aren't running out of oil.'

I mention it to fewer and fewer all the time. In fact, I don't recall the last person I mentioned it to.

Anyhow, it isn't worth the grief and ill-will. Simmon's Four Horsemen are getting ready to saddle-up, so everyone will find out pretty soon regardless.

As clear as it is once it comes into focus, PO is a remarkably difficult concept to convey to people WHO ARE NOT READY TO HEAR IT. There are many theories about why people are resistant to the message, but it's not unlike finding out there is no Santa Claus (sorry if I ruined it for anyone)--at first (age 8 or 9 maybe) you suspect that there may be something fishy about it but you merrily go along with it because you get a bunch of extra presents every year.

Most people are at the 8 or 9 year old Santa Claus with cheap oil and telling them how it really is is often perceived as being a hurtful thing to do. They're like "look, I like the imaginary world I live in and YOU are trying to ruin it, you pessimist doomer."

"No", I say, "I am just trying to start a conversation about the issue and if there is anything I have missed maybe you can help me clear it up. It may not be that bad, just show me the flaw in the reasoning. I'm interested."

They look at me as if to say "You no good pessimist doomer. This is America. Our way of life is not negotiable."

Sigh.

How many members are on myspace? I honestly don't know the answer but just think about that.

And yeah, everyones gonna think you're crazy. Learn from some of the people here. Try to be subtle and don't type in capitals.

ok people i understand all that your saying, but i haven't come accross the type of people ur talkinga bout, i personally have done it online i find it makes more sense to people when u can provide the matierial instantly and the videos and so on. i use msn to convey the message. add as many people as u can to ur msn, and make them see the message!! i have told about 16 people so far, and i have supplied them with the evidence and information needed to 1. shock them 2. they can successfully shock the next person they tell.
and i believe this model will work for us, only if we become organized, imagine if just 25% of that go tell another 16 people, sooner or later we will get a lot of people in a short space of time. i found this on youtube.

and u said that people will think im crazy, actually they didn't think i was crazy i just told them about what will happen, and why and gave them the evidence, the key is to make them scared enough for them to want to read what ever u got, then when they read and find out its not a lie, then we have a new messenger, and we go on from there, i actually found that most of the people i infromed and told to pass on the message have past it on, so i got to say people are willing to listen its just how u tell them.
