Not at all. Doomerism doesn't necessarily mean that you think you will face hardships or your shit will hit your fan, but that the world in general will face tough times ahead. I can't think of my fellow man?


Real doomers think millions of $ will only give you a few extra months after collapse, maybe a year at best, assuming you already have a completely autonomous life established, which I'll risk to say you don't have. :P

Spot on prairie. It is not about how much you make.

I have a very decent income and so has my wife. But my former secretary and her husband, who earn less than half the amount we do, have a much more luxurious lifestyle. They have the house, the plasma TV, the two cars, the latest computer etc.

The difference is that they have over 300k in outstanding loans, and we haven't. They buy everything on credit, and preferably interest only adjustable rate type of credits.

The problem is that when they run into problems (And that is a matter of when not if) we as a society have to chip in to bail them out. And they are counting on that.

Moreover items become more expensive due to these people. We pay a fee on a lot of items simply to cover for these people who can't pay their bills.

I consider them the leeches of society.

No. You're not. Compared to the biggest doomers on this site you're a Lorenzo.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('mekrob', 'W')hile I myself am not wealthy, I am definately connected. Most of my outer family is very wealthy, makes more than 100k a year. My uncle is easily a multimillionaire and probably makes more than a million dollar a year. He's offered to help get me 100k + jobs for the first year and I'm only 19. So I'd definately say that if I wanted money, I could easily get it, and plenty of it. I'm not just secure now, but even in the most doomerish scenario. Or if we find a way out, I'm still good.

But you know what? I don't want it. Instead I keep my laptop on the lowest power setting, keep the lights off, don't use that much heat/air, hardly ever drive, and I try my best to not eat so much meat (less energy intensive) and instead eat more rice, grains, noodles, veggies, etc.

Low-energy > SUV & McMansion


I think maybe the reason you don't want those jobs is because you're lazy? Though saying it's for other reasons must pull you a lot of chicks. ;)

it is a real factor. i always hear rich people saying oh its class warfare. I did not say that in my post. I laid out the truth. If you see it as class warfare then so be it. This is real and the rich will not suffer. Is it class warfare when the poor suffer due to higher interest rates. I mean you have to keep inflation low and keep all those poor and middle class people from causing too much inflation.

Gotta keep the stock market booming for the rich.
I suspect you are wealthy and do not like people talking about it. Why is a wealth person on this site. Go buy a new house or a new car. Nail a hot girl! ;)

I had no idea we had so much in common!

However I prefer horsepower and torque over gambling.

My sports car is at about 17mpg and I use it as the daily commuter. I love my car (oooh! PO sacrilege). I will drive it daily till gas prices hit 15.00 a gal or a electric vehicle takes my fancy. See: Tesla.

I am Jevons Paradox in action. Does that make me a hypocrit? :-D

Who cares. So what. I'm going to go get a sandwich.
