Nice to meet you... we are the United States of America.

Some Americans are scared by immigration (both legal & illegal). They feel like our country is being taken away from us bit by bit.

These fears are unfounded.

You may come here full of pride for your country of origin, or your genetic or religious heritage, but I promise you that your kids, or at most your kid's kids, won't give a flyin rat's ass about any of that stuff.

Once we get our hands on em... game over.

Wired into the American collective from birth, they won't speak your native tounge, they won't listen to your traditional music, & they won't respect your traditional values.

They're Americans now...

But that's not enough for us.

We will export our American collective hive-mind presence around the world... and assimilate you in place.

True Believing Muslims are scared utterly out of their minds by our so-called "culture" because they see how quickly, easily, and effortlessly their young people are seduced by it. They know perfectly well how powerful its appeal is.

They disagree that resistance is futile, and are resisting with everything they've got.

Were it not for Peak Oil and Global Warming, their battle might have a slim chance for success simply because of the desperate fervor that drives it. But they'll run out of time. They'll perish, with so many others of us, long before their fight is won, or lost.

Perhaps they'll still be who they are when they die, though. Maybe they won't be assimilated by then. Then again, will we surviving 'Murikans be who we are after the die-off? What will become of our irresistable culture when we're down to burning up just one or two million barrels a day of black gold?

Resistance is futile for now, but eventually there won't be anything left to resist against.

Considering that it is likely that it'll be only us, and the Russians that are burning any oil at all at that point... Maybe we'll still be the arrogant, individualistic, consumption daemons that we've been through most of the 20th and now 21st century.

I'm sorry to disapoint you, but that is not the case. Spanish-speaking people in the US are growing so fast, that soon enough the so-called minorities will outnumber White Americans.

Besides, sorry to be so blunt, but most Europeans and most of the rest of the world have a very negative stereotype of Americans. They view them as arrogant, dumb, materialistic, uneducated air-heads.

I personally think that there are many talented and decent people in America, but they are decreasing by the day. Hopefully, the future generations of the decendants of immigrants will bring some better family values and some more "culture", because I think most of American culture has vanished into a void of consumerism, fascism, arrogance, ignorance, debts, and ideoogical conformity.

It doesn't help that your last 10 years of Bushism have also converted your nation into an arrogant dictatorship which tries to subdue others through state-sponsored terrorism. Most people in the world don't really respect America anymore. Sorry.

This world truly is a dichotomy between good and evil...I wonder...which force will prevail? Will there ever be a resolution at all...

I couldn't agree more. The world is where it is because many (most?) of the world population (or perhaps most of those who rule the world) don't have integrity or honor.

The only problem with your argument is that good and evil actually exist. I know you disagree, and I don't really care to debate you about. I fear the effort would be quite fruitless.

I shall share with you both the words of a wise man, one who helped me become who and what I am today. Reflect upon his wisdom that you, also, may open your eyes to reality.

1) Once you lose your integrity, the rest is easy.

2) The unethical we do immediately. The illegal takes a little longer.

Please note that item (2) is a statement of philospohy and moral values, and is not to be construed as an incitement to engage in illicit behavior as defined by any law, statute, or regulation having the force of law. 8)

As for honor. I suggest an experiment.

Go into your favorite grocery store. Obtain an item. Go to the cashier. Now bring yourself up to your full height, look the cashier straight in the eye, and with every bit of pride you can muster, say "I have kept my honor." Then see how much the item costs compared to its regular price.

I believe you will determine the true value of honor: nothing.

And finally, regarding assimilation. No, the Mexicans and others from south of the border do not seek to change the U.S.; rather, they seek to become like us. Oh, they may use salsa instead of ketchup, eat tacos in lieu of hot dogs, and other such trivia - but make no mistake, they pursue the same dreams of material wealth, and they walk the same path. Mere language changes nothing.

Look also at China, at India - or at Russia, or Japan, or hundreds of other states - and you will see that they wish to become just like the U.S.

From that will come an interesting future. But not, I think, a gentle one.

Of course good and evil exist. But a victorious evil power would claim for itself the mantle of the justified regardless of its previous actions, and it would have the power to make the claim stick.

World problem is a bit different than the US problem, so I'll take upon myself "Benevolent Dictator of All Mankind". for a moment. (No offers please, I don't want the job.)

Taxes to raise:
residence tax based upon the number of feet below +50ft that a person lives.
liquid fuel tax equivalent of 1 oz of silver per US gallon.
electricity tax equivalent of 1 oz silver per 120 kwh of electricty.
additional biofuel tax of 1oz of silver per US gallon output.

Money to be spent on:
liability and siting costs for fission plants 1 plant per 6 mil in population
build out of solar and wind.
large investment in geothermal research
large investments in rebuilding freight rail lines.

I could go further, but that right there is enough variables thrown into the mix that one could only guess wildly at what the impact would be.
