An important announcement from SoothSayer

Dear denizens of the Open Discussion forum and The Hall Of Flames.

I have suddenly realised that the siren calls of your intriguing & reasoned discourses have lured me from The One True Path which is Peak Oil.

Sense has at last returned to my troubled soul, so with immediate effect, I will dally much less frequently in these two fabled groves of wit & humour.

I am departing these hallowed halls in order to focus on The Truth that is Peak Oil.

I feel sure that one or more staunch denizens of your dark underworlds will take up my mantle in order to Fight The Good Fight.

I hope that they will combat the virulent racists, the poisoned minds, the marginally insane, the cerebrally challenged, the pustulent trolls, the Hydras and the spuriously argumentative who attempt to invade & seize your damp & pestilential subterranean chambers.

I especially hope that any new Guardians Of The Twin Chambers will pursue & slay those who show signs of the dreaded febrile Lack of Critical Thought ague.

Sadly I know from the very depths of my soul that even new Guardians full of youthful zeal & zest will be unable to expel the rabid hordes of the Conspiracy Theorists who lurk in the slime encrusted nooks & crannies of The Twin Chambers.

The best to hope is that the bright light of rationality will drive these drooling zombie hoards away from True Thinkers back into their dark maggot infested dens where they can chant their magic incantations such as "WTC7 - WTC7 - C4 - C4 - squib - squib" for the rest of eternity.

I must now take my leave of you, for I have a long and hazardous journey ahead of me. I will need to clamber up decayed steps encrusted with festering piles of Untruths, stinking lumps of Bull Excrement, sticky patches of Political Correctness, malodorous wafts of Virtuousness and rancid green pools of Hate in order to reach the fresh air and daylight far, far above.

Perhaps I will meet some of you again in the brightly lit upper halls of peakoil.com where Peak Oil tales & plans ring out loudly as fresh faced Seekers Of Truth converse happily and brightly.

I must now depart on my hazardous journey towards a renaissance, a New Dawn ......

Was it always like this? Seems much worse lately.

You mods are doing a good job of moving posts from the above cretins to the Open and HOF forums, where they belong. Don't be hesitant to pull the trigger. The site's credibility depends on it.

More attention seeking by SoothSayer.

Wouldn't it have been better to just stop posting and not have to leave "one last post" to rattle the cage on your way out? Maybe when you graduate? from highschool you'll learn some better socializing skills.

While I personally think he is a bit of an ass, at times, I too wish we were a bit more focused on the topic at hand -> PO...

I think it distracts from the message when we have to deal with conspiracy theories (not saying they are not valid - just belong on another forum), anything related to Israel/Jews (other than news), etc...

OTOH, perhaps all the noise is what makes this site what it is (As opposed to the OildDrum, EnergyBulletin,...)...

Anyway, I'm here for the ride. I enjoy all the input/thoughts... Keep it up... Sorry for all the ellipses (or whatever they are called)....

Nice post, late. My thinking exactly. If I want the hard news I go to the sites you mentioned. This is where we react to it all in very human ways. That's probably why this is the number one peakoil site, btw. There's only so much hard news, but the process of dealing with it goes on, day to day. For that, there is no better site. Absurdities, inanities, flame wars, arguments, the retreat into humor, it's all here.

Monotheists usually have a hard time thinking of more than one thing at once. The domestication of our minds (associated with schooling, paid work, peer pressure and heirarchies) is one of our bigger obstacles.
