That's odd. A few weeks ago I finished reading Britain BC (can't remember the author & I'd have to get out of this comfy chair to find the book); one of the ideas was that the indigenous Britons were not driven out by the invaders to the fringes of the British Isles (as used to be thought), but that the invaders settled down and were assimilated by the locals. But according to that BBC article the native Britons WERE driven out after all - genetically.

It would be fun to have a DNA test done; I'm rather fascinated by my forbears, but I'd probably be in for some shocks!

Roger - you're right. Britain BC is about Britain BC. And yet, somewhere I've read an article that disagrees with what that BBC article said. I read it on the Net over a year ago and felt all happy thoughts because it meant my ancestors were the real McCoy - Woad-covered people through & through.

Britain BC came up because it was the second last history book I read, and had a similar theme AND I'm very tired.
