Israel has also hinted that it could assassinate leaders of Hamas, whose government is already under an international aid embargo, if 19-year-old Corporal Gilad Shalit is not freed. He was captured in raid across the border from Gaza on June 25.

"Woe betide them if they dare harm Gilad Shalit," Justice Minister Haim Ramon told Israeli television on Monday.

"The sky will fall upon them," he said

I wonder, what was he doing, across the border ? I think Pals should just jail him for whatever amount of time is in their criminal code for illegal border-crossing. May be they don't have this thing in their CC, causing so much problems this way?

For all you conspiracy theorists what if this is olmerts 'bold plan' that bush hinted at. it's not their little zoning off scheme, they're gonna confront the palestinians and the rest of the world will take out iran and other places. go get their oil. explains why straw walked out and all these diplomatic visits. why is blair re-inforcing afganistan, to control the backlash there. Hamas is right, this is a pre-meditated plan. Mazz

Funny how people assume that it must be Israel at fault when they obviously don't have all the facts. It never crosses their mind that the fine upstanding members of Hamas might make an illegal border crossing and abduction while taking a break from making suicide vests.

huh... who cares who's fault this is? If your brother or sister, mother or father, were held in a prison in Canada (example: if you're from the US) for an indifinate amount of time. Might you go to such extreme mesures to get them back home???

ohh and whats the difference between a vest strapped to a person which kills 20 people and a million dollar jet that drops a bomb that kills 20 people??? I guess the other guys is a terrorist depending on which side of the fence you live.

What is going on between Israel and Palestine is beyond freaky. Israel refused to negotiate even when the Palestinians were trying to give the soldier back. Israel wants war and already over turned a legitamate election. Israel was hoping for an uprsing but the Palestians are scared for their lives as bombs and missiles fall all around them. Watch the news carefully for next holocaust is unfolding before your eyes.

Pretty much right on Novus. The question is whether or not our "Christian POTUS" is giving his backing to this action. Could GWB be goofy enough to think that if the Jews push the Palis off the west bank that JC himself will come and save the day? This is exactly what is being preached in many of the holy roller churches around here. These folks believe that GWB is a tool of god meant to bring on the Rapture. Even some folks who I have respected for years have bought into this line of crap. Another sign of the dark ages soon to come to a county near you.
