Energy Trading/Economics Question.

Unread postby ajcruz » Mon 03 Jul 2006, 17:42:27

Hi,

I'm new to the forum and am beginning to learn quite a lot from everyone. I have an interview coming up and I sincerely hope that posting my question here is appropriate. If not, I do apologize.

In any case, I have an interview with a powerplant/energy trader (quant portfolio finance stuff) and was wondering if there are any good resources and any current issues that I should be aware of.

Again, if this is the wrong venue I do apologize.

Thanks!.

For a quick update on all the issues concerning energy trading, deregulation, etc. I would start with a subscription to The McKinsey Quarterly and go to the Energy, Resources & Materials section for backdated articles on these topics as well as their own research on electric power and oil & gas generation. It is a pretty good background reference to make sure you're on top of any issues that have effected how the industry has developed.

Other than that, you may also check-out the webpages of integrated power companies and check out their links dedicated to Press Releases and the Media. Usually if there were any articles written mentioning the company they will be somewhere on the firm's webpages. These articles may also bring up issues effecting the industry as well. Good luck.
The organized state is a wonderful invention whereby everyone can live at someone else's expense.
