How many posts here have been paid for?

Unread postby SoothSayer » Sat 01 Jul 2006, 07:17:05

Apparently people are being paid to advertise in blogs. See here

Do you think it's happening here?

I wonder how many of the racists, nutters, loudmouths etc who post here are being paid to disrupt the reputation of the site and/or to push products and/or to influence share prices and/or to influence "newbies" against the Peak Oil concept?

I'd love to get payed for my posts. Sadly, that is not the case.

But I have been interviewed by a journalist about peak oil due to my postings on this forum and another forum.
Peak oil is not an energy crisis. It is a liquid fuel crisis.

You really think some people are being paid to make posts that discredit PO? Hmmm... that sounds a little paranoid to me. I think we're all here, or at least most of us, because we're genuinely fascinated in this issue.

Hi LadyRuby.

I have no opinion one way or the other - but someone else here might have some hard facts on the issue.

I am simply posing the question, in the light of "paid posters" now being part of the Internet landscape.

I for one welcome any paid posters.

I still watch the news these days, no matter how inane it is (there's little REAL stories these days). One thing that has my radar bleeping is the lack of programs actually reporting the price of oil here.

To know your adversary, you need to know what they're saying, how they're saying, and what they REALLY think.

I'm not swayed excessively by propaganda. I'll look at a situation on its merits. I'm highly skeptical on Iraq, 9/11 (whether or not the Govenrment of the US is involved I'm not sure, but there's certainly SOMETHING fishy there...).

My view on Global Warming/Climate Change for example is that there's both a natural and human element in the current warming phase.

I have two tools in my inventory: logic, and a firm grasp of the English language. Both are invaluable. I do not have a ridiculously high IQ.

Who was it who said "if you DON'T watch the news you're uninformed, if you DO watch the news you're misinformed..."

You're right, peaker - just THINK about everythiing you read, see and hear - don't accept what we're fed at face value. As you observed, what they say and how they say it gives you a lot of insight if you use a little logic and pay careful attention to the words they choose.

I find a good approach is to read foreign newspapers as well as national.

In particular they will cover your politicians' affairs, fraud etc MUCH better than local papers.

Since he was mostly pushing penny stocks in that area I've always assumed it was a pump and dump thing for him.

It is completely ridiculous to think that someone is being paid to discredit peak oil.

Now, on a completely unrelated topic. Have you ever thought how really stupid this whole peak oil issue really is. We have enough oil for hundreds of years. Besides, when all the hypercapacitor hybrid biodiesel, solar charged cars hit the market next year, we won't even need oil. I heard that they plan to sell 10 million hypercap cars next years.

In fact, I am going to run out and trademark Hypercap right now so I can get a cut of the action.

We cannot discount fear, anger, denial and rationalization although it most certainly seems that some are indeed getting paid to post here.

Who here believes OPEC members are telling the truth about their reserves?

Now who takes the time to post long and hard about why SA and the others are indeed telling the truth using all the pretty charts and graphs and yes...governmental or industrial studies to prove it?

Who here believes ethanol and/or biofuels are the future?

Now who posts long and hard to convince us that we are incorrect and in doing so use every counter governmental study to prove their position while also trying to debase EROEI?

We know this page is getting good coverage and We know "they" are watching.

They have ALOT of money.
Enough money to fund lobbyists on capitol hill and elsewhere.

Yet SOME PEOPLE find it hard to fathom that industry and even government has propaganda machines on the internet???

I have posed the question many times - basically for fun because I know these people will never admit it.

LOOK - The current administration is tied closely with industry and what they have done in the name of democracy and the protection thereof is beyond CRIMINAL.
Impeachment is too good for these non humans.
A slow torturous death televised and broadcast for all to see.
A reminder of what happens when leaders abuse the power of position to deceive the entire world.

To imagine that they are not here and there and everywhere influencing just about anything they can is ......well.......naive to say the least.

Paranoia??? how about simple AWARENESS.

I don't think there are that many posters being paid to discredit PO, as they would be preaching against the choir, and for the most part, there are enough people in denial to try, and will try to discredit PO for them(even though they ultimately can't).

However, I do think there are alot of people trying to post on the economics forum, in order to try and sheer up support for higher gold prices, silver prices, oil prices ect...

The reason for that, is they have possible cash to make from an increase in Oil/Gold prices, so of course they are always going to lie, cheat and scam their way into increasing the market.

BTW, if any major oil company or OPEC country member reads my post, and likes my ideas(like Lake Fusion, or Cellulose Digestion as a food source, or one of my many other ideas), I'm up for hire. I won't post lies on the boards, but I will help you solve your problems for a price of course.

I have alot more ideas and I don't post my best on the boards(as I couldn't make money off of them then).
