Looking for documents and reasearch work done on peakoil

Unread postby presidentsherrill » Sat 01 Jul 2006, 02:29:18

I am looking for conclusive evidence that I may study and research on my own. I am looking to create a video presentation that I am going to have my local broadcasting company show to enlighten some of the people in my area about peakoil. But I need the proof

What I am looking for
Approximate bbd being produced by all the different oil wells
Research data that Matt Savinar was able to locate.
Any information showing different wells that have gone dry.

I am also looking for information that would give great detail about when the us oil fields began to go dry.

I have tried googling but I have come up short If anyone has any information I can use that can be backed up by concrete facts I would appreciate it greatly

You should be able to find ALL you need via Google and other search engines.

Your local bookshop and/or library should also have a shelf of books covering what you need.

You will need to invest some of YOUR time and money to collect the data you need, rather than expecting someone else to spend THEIR time or money for your project.

Also, if you don't do the legwork yourself you won't get a solid understanding & "feel" for the data you are collecting.

More generally, everyone needs to become adept at using Google.
However, like every activity, some people are better at it than others. If you find Google inadequate then you might consider getting some books or training on web searching. Failing that, you may have to find someone else to do it for you ...

well actually I was kind of just hoping someone might know of a few good search phrases to use. as most of the one I have tried have taken me to the peak oil sites I already know about.

I was kind of hoping to know where I should begin looking to find financial reports and reports released by the different oil companies

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'I') was kind of hoping to know where I should begin looking to find financial reports and reports released by the different oil companies

Well, those companies release those documents freely on the internet, usually at their site for their investors (check the same category).

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'w')ell actually I was kind of just hoping someone might know of a few good search phrases to use.

Top Oil production by Country
Top oil production by field
(Top 5 Fields/Complexes by production:
1: Ghawar : 4-5 mpd
2: Cantarell: 2 mpd
3: Burghan: 2 mpd
4: North Sea
5: Da Qing: 1 mpd; note that all of these fields are in permanent decline)
Search for documents and articles released by Oil and Gas Journal, Woodmac, rigzone, etc

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'I') am also looking for information that would give great detail about when the us oil fields began to go dry.

First well was drilled in the 1850's ('56?) by Colonel Drake in PA. Research that, Kern, North Slope (Prudhoe Bay), East Texas oil field, Texas, OK, CA, PA, WY, SD, ND, etc in general. Most US fields are small with few exceptions (North Slope, East TX, Kern) so I'm not aware of their names or qualities or production figures. Nor much data on regions/states within the US.

US oil production peaked in 1970. Discoveries in the '30's.

Anything else?

You'd have a better chance at selling crack to a cop than convincing someone of PO with what I gave him. I was just giving him some tips on where to start, he's obviously just a noobie.

I'm just a bit touchy.

I also view several software development forums. There is now a never-ending stream of posts like:

"URGENT - HELP ME. I am a student in Bangalore and I want to build a small PCB with a 2.4 megapixel camera chip and a USB interface for a project. Send me the circuit and software code immediately."

Clearly these are Indian cubicle slaves who have been given outsourced development tasks ...and now expect unemployed or underemployed Western software engineers who should have had the work to help them out.

I therefore get annoyed when I detect "Please, please help little old me" posts.

Perhaps unfairly, I assume that someone is simply looking for a mug to do their work for them.

Here are some of the sources that I have used to gather raw data for my own projections. Caution: Doing a proper analysis of the information provided at these links is not for the faint of heart.

IEA World Energy Outook 2006

BP Statistical Review of World Energy 2006

Energy Information Administration (US Dept of Energy) - Petroleum

EIA (again U.S. DOE) Annual Energy Outlook 2006

Peaking of World Oil Production: Impacts, Mitigation & Risk Management (aka The Hirsch Report)

NYMEX Light Sweet Crude Oil Futures Prices

Daily Motor Gasoline Spot Prices

Alternatively, you could check out the 'Depletion Modeling' forum of this board. Many of us have posted the results of our own analysis there.
