')Also, I have concern about finding work. I mean not now, but in the future when this stuff happens. I assume there will bas massive loss of jobs, what does one do when they are unemployed and can't find work?
I think this is a quandry everyone will face. Hense the "prepare for the future" forum is loaded with after peak advise. If we are returning to a simpler life style, well simpler jobs will be required. Horses will be the mode of transport more then likely once the Iron horses stop moving. Learn to be a ferrier. Stable hand, ranch hand. Learn solar and you could be the 'energy' expert in your local community.
The problem is we just dont know when it happens, how bad it will really be and then each progressive 'worsening' of the problems, Global warming, the populations, 4 billion idiots running around not knowing what they are doing and not considering you in their future plans.
But much like pple today, pple tomorrow will adapt and find a niche to fill, or much like today, just end up in a position of need cause your there. Probably 80% of pple today have no idea what they wanna be when they grow up and just sorta end up in a career they did not plan for. I think a lot of that will be happening in the future.
In short, read and learn and expect the worst. If the worst never happens, your just that much better off, if it does happen, you should be prepared and have a leg up on others that did not see it coming.
I have started becoming a DIY type guy after years of paying pple to do everything for me, from mowing the grass to fixing the car to residing the house. I found when we resided the house, sure I hurt like hell for a week, but I felt so good inside, like I was not helples or stupid. Really helped my self esteem (not that I have a problem with that). But being self sufficient really gives you a sense of self pride that few things can match in life. I realize I have my limits, I can't fix my car. I dont try any more. But I wont have to worry bout this post peak. But I also know that I can stand on my own two feet and do things for myself. Thats a great feeling.
In short, humans are amazing animals. Dont fear you cant survive, you will, unless your lazy to the point its a fault. So long as you can muster the energy, courage or desire to do something, you will do it. Its when you think your special or just lose the desire to keep on keeping on that your gunna be in trouble.
