Letter To Spec

Unread postby PenultimateManStanding » Tue 27 Jun 2006, 21:45:30

You showed us the pictures of your dad's farm. But you've posted thousands of posts and we know also that you fought tooth and nail to get the hell out of that. You went crazy on LSD in a Texas pick up truck, and you had to get the hell out of there. You don't fool me with your redneck poses, I know the score. So you're thinking of going back? What does your old man think of that? How you going to relocate in that little town. You can't and you know it.

Let me tell you how I view this place. We're looking at helplessness. I don't like it and I don't want it to happen. I see people to battle here and I battle them. It's not going to matter. And ayoob can kiss my ass.

Been busy man! Gimme a few days to respond.

Yep, I would move back there. I had actually talked about doing just that. And I did fight to get out of there. Theres no money there. The jobs are all low paying back breaking crap jobs unless you get lucky and score the occasional banker job that comes up.

I got out to find money. But then I learned theres more to life then money.
I make more money in the city, but I'm happier in the country.

Tough choices.

Now if you'll excuse me, I gotta find my hat and check my cattle. :p

8O You do realize that DHS monitors this board. You probably just got yourself banned from GOP fundraisers with that comment.

Yeah, Bob's got the music. Hank Williams is good stuff too.

:)
Well I left my home down on the rural route
I told my paw I'm going steppin out and get the
Honky tonk blues,
Yeah the honky tonk blues
Well lord I got 'em,
I got the ho-on-ky tonk blues.
Well I went to a dance and I wore out my shoes
woke up this mornin wishin I could lose
them jumpin honky tonk blues,
Yeah the honky tonk blues
Well lord I got 'em,
I got the ho-on-ky tonk blues.

Well I stopped into every place in town
this city life has really got me down
I got the honky tonk blues,
Yeah the honky tonk blues
Well lord I got em,
got the ho-on-ky tonk blues.
I'm gonna tuck my worries underneath my arm
And scat right back to my pappy's farm

And leave these honky tonk blues,
Yeah the honky tonk blues
Well lord I got 'em,
I got the ho-on-ky tonk blues.
unrecorded last verse (from KPFA, ~1993)
When I get home to my Ma and Pa,
I know they're gonna lay down the law.
About the honky tonk blues,
Them jumpin' honky tonk blues.
Lord I'm suffrin' with the honky tonk blues.

Hey! Hey! Don't drag me into this..

I got nothing but mad props and respect for Spec skills and hardware.

BTW-I am buying my 1st Brangus this fall. That would make me small hat and one cow.

I felt the same way Spec did about going out and hustling a buck in the city. Against the wisdom of my Father I double majored in Marketing and Management instead of Agriculture at Oklahoma State. Now I am thankful my pop dragged me to the ranch every school break, because brother I got mad fencing skills and job in the family business if TSHF. Spec's right about the low pay in the country. In SE Oklahoma the only high paying jobs are illegal agriculture and recreational phamacutical technicians. Lots of different enterprises besides cattle. Timber management(select harvesting not clear cutting) and Marketing the place to deer hunters. Here's a few deer pick from the high tech redneck from a couple of archery hunters in frisco. (warning 2nd pic is graphic)

It's a start! good luck to you and spec both. just "shit stirring" as Rax put it. Spec wanted California to fall into the ocean so I had to do something. :)

Dylan made me weep last night. U know I used to go to the hudson clearwater revival every year with my family. they would just let me run free there. All the old folk artists were there john lee hooker, arlo guthrie, pete seeger, etc.. I saw them all backstage or right up front. John lee hooker was like my first musical inspiration. I saw him. I must have been like 10 -12 or something. I was right in front of him and he put on a show. I think about it now I was like right in front of him and he smiled at me and I really energized the "old" man. He was far from old tho. His energy and skill was ripe. It was some show man. He played like 5 extra songs. and gave me a pick which I lost. he was a master of the slide guitar. I loved that guy. He liked me alot. Arlo guthrie just plain sang his heart out. What memories. Those old folk stars must have loved to see the young kid excited over their moves. at that time the machine was consuming human beings and small children at exponential rates remember. the Borg were trying to erase the cultural backbone of our American continent.
Those festivals I knew I would never be mainstream. I always had the anger and questioning in me. Folk is us whities backbone of culture.
If anything goes down down there u come up here old man. seen?

BTW, holmes, when you spoke of how we've lost so much you reminded me of something I said to my oldest brother once when we had both been adults for a long time. I said something to the effect that "I'm still keeping my funk, my faith that we had as youths." He said "that's hard to do".

I am keeping the mojo forever brother. Im keeping lean mean and immature until Im dust. I find the few women and men left with the spirit of life.
O man how many women Ive driven off or have dumped me due to being alive and fresh! too many to count. Many want control. Stomp the wild beat out of u. Stomp the freedom and zest. they want u a mindless consumer and spender. I was once meeting women on line awhile back. The majority blood sucked. Its all an act and an illusion. One must act in accordance to a set of parasitical rules. That electronic dating thing was proving grounds of this abomination. Women having no part in this was proved wrong. It was horrifying as I became aware of the extent and scale. The driving forces too great now. Shame is a weapon used.
I have mostly women friends. Many of the men are the walking dead. fear based.
Just not much vision left. Cheap energy has turned us into clones.
In general. Still a small group left on the planet.

Yes, mojo. :-D You know Dylan made a reference to John Lee Hooker in his book Tarantula, he said it was "coming in the microphone". Hooker was great and I love his music.
