Surviving Peak Oil

Unread postby Luckystars » Wed 21 Jun 2006, 01:42:11

I don't want to, why? I have no interest to be alive for the chaos. I will take the first bullet. I don't get why you people stock up and hunker down for it. I am leaving my son gold and I want outta here at the first glance. My kid will make his choice. You people have no idea how tragic this is about to become.

In the end LOVE IS THEIR IS...the rest is just an illusion...........

God Bless you all, and Jesus was not a fake.

Ummm, your kid will need you as much as your gold. It may not seem like it now, but an elderly person's perspective on things is a very stabilizing and community building asset.

One of the tools God has put in your hands is the ability to live long past your reproductive peak. Its not an accident. Most critters don't have it, and don't need it. Humans need it.

Oh, but I do. Truly.

Now you ask why I wish to stick around. Partly because the game is about to get interesting. And partly because one feels one's affluence most keenly when others lack most.

Like Jack, this current reality to me is (if I can use this analogy without food being thrown) like the Matrix, shit hitting the fan is us taking the pill. I feel it is just going to get more interesting. I am glad there are people like the original poster however, it means me and Jack will have to kill less people.

"I can't live without this system, so I'll blow my brains out!" - Now that is the true definition of a doomer, NOT someone who understands natural limits.

If people throughout history had thought like this, we wouldn't be here. This is a natural correction, that is coming whether we want it or not, life will still go on, as will the instinct to survive.

LuckyStars, don't worry, if you invest right, you'll be rich and well above 99% of the people. I believe in the future, most people will be working 16 hours a day, 7 days aweek and that only helps them get by, perhaps afew loafs of bread, bottle of cheap wine etc and then all the money is used. Thoughout history, the Rich have allways been able to live it up no matter what the economic climate is, infact they tend to thrive, as the poor lose their assets, the Rich gain more assets. Definatly look where to invest, Wheat, Shares in Farming, Precious metal mining. Stay away from property, property has moved from average of $30k to $500k in 25 years whereas gold has dropped from $850 to $570, this will reverse soon, and property will stagnate while gold will move into a range of $2,000-$5,000.

Congratulations, you've reached rock bottom. You could take the opportunity to recognise your own mortality and relative insignificance, consider your pre-peak self dead, and then blast off into the life of actions you know to be right but were previously to too afraid to take.

Consider..
a. we could be wrong.
b. It IS getting more interesting.
& c. Jesus wouldn't take a bullet.

Jesus was a man who was raised to the status of divinity for politcal reasons. He might have been a great man, but he was a man nevertheless and therefore he can't do much for you now, seeing how he's been dead for 2000 years and stuff.

This might be one reason why he does not want to live in peak oil. Everyone will be taking their actions they were too afraid to take when civilization was around. Sleeping with spiders and snakes dont sound so appealing either.

But I think if only a major pinch is applied and its survivable, the world will get interesting. Certainly if the worst case scenarios play out and we are literally thrown back into the dark ages (stone age anyone) then it will really get interesting. As much as I hate dealing with pple, I do love watching pple. This would be a psychologists wet dream

At some point sure, but till that point, its worth observing pple and how they interact with their surroundings as their surroundings change. Never stop the pursuit of knowledge.

Its funny how often people refer to "when PO hits" like its some sort of event. I wager we are already there and gone... Now its just the sit back and watch the slide down part... So what do we have left of seeming normalcy? 2 years? 5 maybe before its too obvious to ignore? I wonder at what point the poor will no longer tolerate the disparity and then the riots, chaos and civil wars begin? But hey we have lots of coal. At least in the US. We'll just burn that til we choke. And that doesn't help the transportation fuels situation...

feeling particularly doomerish today,

I think its the brown sky from the fires...

interesting peak oil psychology of you, people. I guess with some you, the post-po-time could become really interesting.

As far as i am concerned, i always felt freer, stronger and acted slyer when i felt the rules break down or get suspendet for some time.
The mouse, i`ve been sure for years, limps home from the site of the burning ferris wheel with a brand new, airtight plan for killing the cat.
