A live report from the German celebration: Honk, honk, beer, beer, flag, flag, more beer and them German chicks running around half-naked in the hot night... 8O

OK, that Polish red card was unfair, but what the hell! Germany really deserved this victory. Klose was brilliant, but where was Ballack? My personal favourite in the German team, Schweinsteiger, was replaced at the end of the game but played fairly well.

Right! Kneel before me you subhumans!

On Tuesday, Sweden will beat England with 2 - 0!

Jesus Christ, that was close but you've got to have "ein bisschen glück" sometimes... :-D

I'm glad they finally replaced that piece of shit Ibrahimovic...

Germany and Argentina are the only teams who have played good football so far.

"On Tuesday, Sweden will beat England with 2 - 0!"

So by Tuesday we'll all know if Schweinshaxe has the gift of prophecy, or maybe he's related to Sven-Goran Eriksson and knows something we don't know!

Now then, a little genuine sportsmanship is in order here, Mr. Porky

:)

Congratulations America!

To hold Italy to a draw - outstanding . To hold 10 man Italy to a draw in the World Cup with only 9 men...almost unbelievable!

Like...utmost respect, dude.

Looks like the Coach had some serious words after the Czech debacle.

Italy is creme de la creme.

Only seven countries have won the World cup Championship since it began in 1930.

BRAZIL : 5

ITALY : 3

GERMANY : 3

URUGUAY : 2

ARGENTINE : 2

ENGLAND : 1

FRANCE : 1

This is FOOTBALL you fucking 'Muricans... :-D

Brazil? I think not. They dont look 101% fit to me.

Agreed! Them Murcanses best find a new name for their strange (but enjoyable) game and lay of this soccer nonsense.

Seconded. Ive never understood why Americans call their game Football. All they ever seem to do is is some strange violent pushing ritual then some throwing and running then some more violence as they all pile onto the guy whos caught the ball like they want to rip his head off. And thats it. Rinse and repeat.

Apart from touchdown conversion (as in Rugby) kicking the ball with the foot hardly ever comes into it.

SO why abuse the name of the beautifull game? Show some respect to the rest of the world and call it Murderball...Psychoball... or some other name a little more relevant.

And 'World Series'? ..come on, get real guys...

Bah! I've revised my predictions a little after all the dissapiontments.

France is OUT!

Brazil is still my tip, but as I said, look out for Holland and Spain! Germany is a little higher on my list now. Sweden has a world class team and must start to show that now!

OK, Brazil will win... Or Germany...

I was lucky enough to have watched it. Looks like Italy scored our goal for us! It didn't look like those two American players deserved to be red carded, but the Italian most certainly did for elbowing the American player in the nose. So the 'murikans' have come up a bit in the world of football, international style, or Association football. (Gridiron football came out of rugby, BTW. ) Just one problem, I heard that the American team is rated 4th internationally and Italy is 6th at this time. So the results were a bit of a let down.

The corruption shit starts early this year! :-D I mean the FIFA executives get a shitload of money, free board and lodging and the hookers paid for by FIFA, but they just have to make few thousand Euros on the side anyway. I guess he'll have to move back to the clay hut he came from now...

And that fucking corrupt bastard Blatter has the nerve to make a comment...

Well well, what could you expect from a socialistic organization...

From www.fifa.com

FIFA Executive Committee member admits illegal ticket sale

FIFA Executive Committee member Ismail Bhamjee (Botswana) confirmed today in a written statement that he has sold 2006 FIFA World Cup tickets for triple the amount of the face value.

As an immediate reaction to this behaviour, FIFA's Emergency Committee under the chairmanship of President Blatter decided that Mr. Bhamjee had to immediately resign from all FIFA World Cup-related duties and leave Germany at the earliest possible moment.

FIFA President Blatter stated: "I am very disappointed about the conduct of a member of the FIFA Executive Committee. In such a situation, FIFA acts immediately and firmly, also in line with the decisions taken at the Congress in Munich on 7 and 8 June."

FIFA has been informed and subsequently been presented with evidence today in Berlin by a reporter of the British Mail on Sunday newspaper about the above mentioned fact.

Ismail Bhamjee admitted to the above and signed the following declaration:

"I, Ismail Bhamjee, Member of the FIFA Executive Committee, hereby confirm the fact that I have sold on 12 CAT 1 tickets of the 2006 FIFA World Cup match England - Trinidad & Tobago (played on 15 June in Nuremberg) for EUR 300 each, i.e. EUR 200 above face value (EUR 100) for each ticket.

I deeply regret this incorrect act and apologize to FIFA for violating the relevant Terms & Conditions governing the sale of tickets for the 2006 FIFA World Cup."

I watched the USA - Italy game on the Spanish-language channel. Does that make me unpatriotic?

If it does make me unpatriotic, is it because I wasn't watching something broadcast in English or is it because I was watching soccer?

Weird indeed. Old superpowers don't live up to their heritage and crazy upstarts from all over come to the Cup and play great. It seems to me like the field is more even than ever before. Then of course a team has to be pretty good in order to qualify for Germany at all, and maybe these weird scores are just a symptom of the fact that the global quality of football is better than ever before. It also seems obvious that even a team made up of brilliant players can play bad if the team spirit isn't there. The Merkins impressed me against Italy. It looked like a team machine underdog taking on a bunch of whiny primadonnas with superior individual skills.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('sceptic', '
')SO why abuse the name of the beautifull game? Show some respect to the rest of the world and call it Murderball...Psychoball... or some other name a little more relevant.

Haha, I've also been thinking about a more accurate name for Merkin "football". I'm at a loss, since IMO it's not played with a ball at all (balls are round!)- thus both "gridball" and "tackleball" are out. Though many (most?) ball sports include "ball" in the name (base-, basket-, foot-, hand-, volley-, raquet-, floor- etc. , there are exceptions. Golf, tennis, cricket, squash, lacrosse come to mind. Perhaps some inventive mind can come up with a catchy, descriptive single word? If not, I might just have to call it "inflated spool-shaped object running-passing-kicking tackling game", Which is rather painful to say or even think...

What we've seen over the last decade or so is the globalisation of the professions of football manager and coach.

We've also seen the best players of smaller countries playing in the traditional football countries, picking up the best of individual skills, team organisataion and taking those skills home. It has levelled the playing field.

Maybe global satellite TV also has something to do with it - just being able to watch how the great teams and players perform, then copying their techniques

Don't you want your country to win the Global War on Terrorism? I bet Ann Coulter didn't even watch the game!

I guess it makes you twice as unpatriotic! First you watch a European homo communist game and on top of that in the language of the Arabic Muhammedan Bolsheviks.

Jesus hates soccer! He died on the cross for Baseball!
