$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('evilgenius', 'T')his topic is interesting because about six months ago or so I read that the rebels in Colombia had succeeded in stopping much of the production of marijuana in that country, or was it that the Colombian gov had stopped rebel prod? The PPT is supposedly run by illicit drug money being invested in the markets via the CIA traders. Isn't it interesting that on the heels of reduced Marijuana production and turmoil at the CIA the market has plunged. Yes, there are other reasons for the slump as well, its just that the supposed resources for holding it back are limited right now.

Why look for a logical explanation when you can invent one using your collective imaginations or is that paranoia?

I am of the general belief that there are some behind the scenes actors. Not that this will stop a downturn though. If the market fundementals are driving valuations lower, no amount of manipulation will stop that. Slow it maybe, but then again will built in circuit breakers. But over the long term it will still fall.

You have to admit the beauty of this setup. By preventing 87 style crashes and spreading declines out over days, it fails to make the news and trigger panicked responses that may make the situation worse.

I would go more along the lines of pump and dump. The fear in the market is growing which means someone isn't going to dive in like they did. The particular gold mining stock I was tracking had 8000 shares pass by my screen, one order. I have never seen an order like this pass before my eyes in the last year. They just happen to guess the bottom on that day.

p.s. why is cia involvement in money laundering and drug running so far fetched. There is substantial proof from the past that this has occurred. Connecting the events of thursday to this is far fetched though without any real proof I must admit.

It was messed with big time. just like around 2000 when it suddenly stopped in mid air freefall and we took a hit on our shorts.

Yes, they will be messing with it more and more.

Yes, why is it far fetched? I wasn't saying, by the way, that I thought the CIA was behind any specific event rather that it was no longer funneling as much money and it was having a long term effect.

Basically, it looks like the Administration has decided it is time for a deep recession. That is their answer to peak oil, to reduce demand. They aren't interested in building a better economy, one that relies less on oil.

Plunge Protection Team

Unread postby americandream » Wed 09 Aug 2006, 01:11:07

We've heard about the Plunge Protection Team. Has anyone heard of a Resistance Inducement Team to cap soaring oil prices under a fixed cap...specially seeing as oil is traded on US soil and that of its ally, the UK?
