I'm sure the Blockheads from 'Gumby' were communists. They were red, had yellow symbols on their heads that looked like 'J's, from memory, and were always trying to destroy Gumby's All-American farm for no reason...

Smurfs are from Belgium.

To make matters worse, this discussion is a copy-pastiche of the one in the film Donnie Darko, which featured some inane conversation some dweebs were having, that prompted the lead character to give them an alternate angle on the situation.

I used to watch The Smurfs, mostly what would happen is that Gargalmel and Azriel would attack the Smurf Village, try to kidnap smurfs or eat them, then the Smurfs would find a way of stopping that until next episode. Their houses looked like mushrooms. I am not a lead character, this is not a movie, the Smurfs were probably meant to be elves or fairies, Communists aren't usually that small. That would be ants.

Anybody remember H&R Puffinstuff and his untimely demise?
You observed it from the start
Now you’re a million miles apart
As we bleed another nation
So you can watch you favorite station
Now you eyes pop out your sockets
Dirty hands and empty pockets
Who? You!

for real... Peyo was approached. Just one in a long line of battles fought in the cold war. Both sides equally as guilty.
