Hitting Peak Economy

There could be a slowdown when peak oil occurs if the buying spree is stiffled for a year or two:

And the bubble double, this is the view ahead of the roller coaster tracks.

We are not doing a great job of saving anything now...

Our savings isn't all that great either, for something to fall back on...

And here are loans to the INDUSTRIAL SECTOR

trends go up
then trends go down.

hope this becomes an interesting informative thread.

Oh, get to know and BUY from your local farmer! When you need a job you will be hired for food and maybe board since the tractors won't be running.
Get in shape, workuot, do pilates exercises (DVD Pilates for dummies) excelent, in a few years you could survive as a sharecropper.

You will either be a small farmer with land or a sharecropper.
They farmers won't tolerate supporting big government again.

hi grabby,

maybe Greenspan has done a good job, providing some final fat years of spending to the people. Maybe he knew that the world is coming to an end at 31.12.2006? If i would i believe in that, i too would consume as if there will never be payback time.

I doubt, that there will be a well defined overall peak in the economy, rather a series of disruptions, bankruptcies, with the loosers accumulating in some social classes and some locations.

But the coincidence of accumulating debt, economic bubbles, a clueless, bungling government, and peak energy knocking makes the outlook really interesting.

Peak economy may be something that countries with low birthrates in europe may face quite soon. People migrate to prosperous areas and let some regions fall in a economical downward spiral. Yet, a diminishing population is something basically right for the po-future.

But, coming back to the US, the country is large, populous, rich (just think of the potential for solar energy in the southern states) and will, i am sure, rebounce after an economic crisis or recession, albeit on a smaller economical basis and without the ability to push around other states.

As far as the US are not breaking up, even with a post peak-economy, they would be a country that most people on earth would regard as "rich".

Wow grabby, I always thought you very intelligent... the farmers have always been placed in the same category as the minorities. Keep them poor and subsidized. Farmers taking control means one thing, armed revolt. It has happened in the past, look up "Farmers Holiday". My grandfather hung some judges. It's not going down like that this time... they have the orders now to seize the land...

Well it will either be forced labor for farming (and if you are into communistic forced farming your farms dont "DO WELL" and "CROPS FAIL" for some unknown reason, like underprocuding farmers did in Russia 30 years ago:
Passive agressive (using Balsa hoes and lots of fake movement)

They were payed the same wether or not crops came in. Why get up early?
Take the farmers (LIKE george washington )
They decided they can run things better for themselves.

Without internet I don't think politicians will know how to network anymore, and they certainly wouldn't go out and meet people after the big dump, they would be dangerous activity

Politics has moveed from GOOD OLD BOY local rich businessmen, to weasely little harverd graduates hiding in dark internet web sites.

My sharecropper idea came in part from Buffet
local sharcropping is where it is going, says Buffet.
Buffets prediction

I just took it one step further.
Rather than working for the other countries, AFTER THE PEAK hits, we then will have no trade, we won't have enough production for ourselves, and supply
(food will be in shortage)

And I added real events from WWII, my grandfather went through it.
the best job after hyperinflation, was farming, farmers were the only people who were never hungry (except for politicians)
there were many SHARECROPPER families who were happy to sleep in a barn and eat from the fields and work.

My father (14 years old then) one day went into the chicken coup when the farmer and his wife went to town, and swipped a dozen eggs and fried them all up. that was one of the best day's of his life and he still fondly recounts it.

Farmers have no clout in USA because we get better food from wally land. and don't really need em. Besides they are too stinkiy and own cows and things. Better to build a shopping mall or some other useful construction.

Course farmers do get ticked but they arent very politically savy , as you will notice in the 1931 cow war.
cow war

But it is not about farmers or politicians, it is about oil affecting the global transport system and trade setup.

when the food shortage hits, gold silver gas even will not mean as much as a bag of corn.
