We should leave something to remember us by...

As a nation, as a world, knowing our future destruction, we should compile all of the collective knowledge we have, and store it in special mountain complexes, for future generations.

All of our technology, all of our ideas, all of our research, everything should be stored for future generations, so that, 500 years from now, When somebody finds it, they might be able to create a kingdom, or a state, that was the former glory of the lost empire.

What do you think?

I recall reading in Discover magazine about an elaborate multi-century clock built in a mountaintop cave in the Rockies which will continue for eons without any maintanence.

this idea is not altogether new; for example, during the cold war, things worth remembering about germany (artworks, documents etc. ) were put upon microfilm, stored safely into steel barrels and placed in an old mineshaft in thee black woods.

Anyway, after a civilisation perished, there is always lots of crap left. Maybe future generations will plough the ruins of our cities with salt and forbid every remembrance. And what should a poor farmer in future times do with our micro devices, blue ray disks or silicon chips but throwing them (mandatory) into the official pit of oblivon, and mumbling a curse, when another satellite corpse is falling out of the sky ...
The mouse, i`ve been sure for years, limps home from the site of the burning ferris wheel with a brand new, airtight plan for killing the cat.

Oh we will leave them something to remember us by allright. They will get all the pollution we have caused while receiving none of the benefits of the current consumer culture.

The won't be able to not remember us. We will have left them unbelievable amounts of worthless junk that we destroyed the earth's environment to produce. They will absolutely hate us.
