$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('holmes', 'I')m not yelling at you I just want to know wtf is "green". explain. Thank u.
poor choice of words i guess, I didn't anticipate such a reaction!
I guess that word green is slightly loaded and ambigiuos. It's certinly thrown around casually without much thought.
i would think it would be used to describe a product, lifestyle or choice that the person using the term deems to be at least marginally ecologicaly responsible on some level.
Coal technology certinly isn't the only way to power an electric vechile, as I'm sure your aware. there are options with smaller ecological foot prints available and not in as wide use as the coal technology that provides most electricity generation.
Realistically we'll never be able to power our needs, transportation, agriculture, lights for sport stadiums, etcc. without impacting the planet in some fashion. So is that reason enough to voluntairly revert back to the dark ages? I for one wouldn't be willing to impact my quality of life that drastically when I feel there are options available to immensily mitigate our wanton energy consumption while still maintaining the current lifestyle for many, many years to come.
And just because there aren't more strigent safeguards in place, or enforcement is severly lacking, or noone cares enough, is that reason to abandon the pursuit of alternate energy sources and transportation solutions that would allow us to maintain current lifestyle?
But all that's moot, as the society as we know it today is coming crashing down when we run out of energy, right? I really don't think we'll see that in our lifetime, or the next 200 years for that matter as humans as a whiole are all about maintaining comfort levels at all costs and won't take kindly to being forced to ride a bike or walk to work. Something has got to give, and human greed and malfesence will dictate that it'll be our environment that suffers.
Right now I'm on a big electric car kick, I'm trying to alert anyone that i know to their potential to slow the disasterous impact our presence is having on this planet. i really think that's the best that we can hope for.
The idea of an electric hummer is something of an oxymoron, a contridiction of ideas intended to spark debate. but there's no reason why we couldn't have zero emmissions vechiles in place of current choices available to the consumer.
There is no such thing as a sustainable future, it's mearley a matter of how long the target envelope is, 100 years, a thousand, etc... responsible lifestyle choices can extend that envelope but in the end we will bleed this planet dry, I don't belive there's any way around that.
peace.
