It has certainly become acceptable to throw them dirty looks, at least.

Your right must be quiet.
I really like the ones that have support our troops stickers.
I like the gluttony-sloth mental illness disorder connection. Its true. Massive loads of addicts and disturbed individuals roaming around, FREE! In civilian tanks!
Very grotesque.
Yay?

We must be poor here in the inland northwest. There are maybe 10 hummers, and 25-40 HII's in the area. There are a lot of big pickups with really big engines though. A lot of those guys and gals are armed! I guess that is why nobody flips them off! It's much easier and safer to be rude to wives of wealthy businessmen driving their kids to soccer practice.

Ive never flipped anyone off so I wouldnt flip anyone off. its not polite even if its gross. We got massive rigs out here and alot dont even have a scratch or a speck of dirt. Farmers really dont use these glamour rigs. They usually use regular big pickups with no extra glam added on. The big over sized tires are all about sport and show. Now thats pure freedom.

If I have to make a gesture, I wave and smile knowingly. Of course, in my head I'm calculating the dollars per mile and the probable monthly income of the occupant.
A bike makes a person so damn smug. But smug is on the inside because it ALWAYS pays to be nice on the outside. Otherwise you just look like a jack ass.

Only if it's a gas powered hummer is the obscene gesture warranted. If it's an electric hummer, like we'll be seeing in the near future, you should thank them for going green with a hearty thumbs up!
and there's in fact an entier website dedicated soley to this expression of eco rage, with thousands of submissions like this one! Link

So coal is green now. So the vast swaths of ne lakes that die each year is green? The heavy metal overload that the soils and water bodies cannot buffer any more is green? So acidification and sterilization is green? Interesting. Green conforms to keeping BAU I see. Hey eventually when its all brown and yellows Itll be "green" by then. I see absoplutely nothing green about anything BAU. But I suppose Green is brown to the masses. O well.
