Peak oil fills US JAILS

1 in 136 U.S. Residents Behind Bars

I'll bet as peak oil bites harder, US jails will fill up fast.
The amount of jailed Americans will be directly proportional to the price of oil within the US economy.
In other words, high reliance on imports will gut the US economy, induce higher crime rates, and fill the jails.
While those countries that export energy will see an emptying of their jails.

Looks like energy will be the ultimate hegemony, well marketed currency is irrelevant and has no BTU content that is worth anything.

These idiots, goof balls, and sh!t for brains running America are destroying everything by not creating a real energy policy.

But then, if most of Americans are in jail, energy consumption should go down... good planning for the PNAC...

Maybe the high number of criminals has more to do with the insanity of government and the crimes they define, and secondarily, you supporters of massive government, than to do with moral transgressions. I think that the jails and prisions are more and more being populated with politically prisoners.

But what else can we expect from majority rule. Ever meet someone with an average intellegence, and just remember 1/2 of the population is even more dumb.

Try more government = more "criminals" and more jails.

The cause is not more oil, peak oil, or less oil. The cause is a combination of the ass holes who have gained power, the "laws" they impose upon the populus, and the ass holes who vote for the rulers.

I'm assuming the Halliburton "civilian inmate camps" will include space for out-of-work, restless and angry inner-city residents.

We're not going to call them "prisons," though.

Ha ha, now there's a phrase George Orwell woud have loved!

I remember reading his book Animal Farm and I was surpised at the ending many years ago. I've never been able to finish 1984.

Werk MAcht Frei!

(WORK MAKES FREE!)

This is what they told many trusting CITIZENS as they placed them in free work camps, so they could learn to be USEFUL CITIZENS.
They made them take a number and wear a badge years before So everyone would get used to who was who.
The the FREEDOM MOVEMENT began and they were shipped to
FREE WORK FARMS

Never mind that you already had a job, as a teacher or banker or Jeweler, to suit the state they had to be taught to work again in a useful line, this did not at first make much sense and a few questions were asked, but not for long.

You know
Auschwitz
Buchenwalt
Treblinka

like that

Russians Polish German it did not matter,
those that needed to be TAUGHT to WORK and JOIN the SYSTEM were placed here.

never heard from them again.

They always have a REASON for giving everyone IDENTITY NUMBERS
so they can be more EFFICIENT.

If they would try it again, would you fall for it?

Too late! In the USA your Social Security number is already used.

Probably the next step is a national identity card using that number, a finger print and a retinal scan plus maybe a face scan. This will be followed by a radio frequency emiting chip, implanted in your skin, providing government computers with your globally positioned location.

Fortunately, eventually the electric system will fail and the government control and tax system will collapse. People will probably be too busy just trying to survive the chaos to extract vengence against the NAZI equivalents who now rule the world, so again the bad guys will get away with what they have done to the average guy.

Speaking of "Freedom Farms" (hilarious) has anyone heard of any locations being considered for building Halliburton's huge detention centers? I'm assuming Texas will have one, for obvious reasons - maybe also Utah or Wyoming, and Kentucky or Tennessee.

The cost of incarcerating someone in prison in the US is between $15K and $20K per year per inmate. That cost is a total sink, there is no productivity realized from that cost (aside from the indirect benefit of "keeping society safer", a dubious claim where many inmates in the US are non-violent offenders, mostly for simple drug possession). With about 2.2 million people behind bars, this costs the US in the area of $3 to $4 billion dollars a year (across the entire country; these costs are borne among the states and federal government).

All those dollars, though, still represent energy expenditures. It will be increasingly expensive to keep a large prison system functional, and if you want to get "free" work farms out of this population, it will then cost even more (increase in guards, food, infrastructure, beaurocracy, transportation of prisoners or products).

It will be interesting to see how this plays out.

Is there really a "Tent City" prison in Arizona?

Maybe that would be cheaper.
