Shelby GT
Mustang
Ford GT40

What's next the new model T?

Don't get me wrong, these cars were great, but it seems kind of sad that they have to revert to old designs. It is like an admission that they can't design any better today.

Model T is too far back. The reason for the whole retro thing is that there was an era of Peak Style when the most perfect muscle car designs were invented. Why do you think the new Mustangs have in huge letters all across the back end M U S T A N G, just so you know. They didn't need to do that in 1967.

Bingo. Note that it's only the three U.S. makers that do this retro crap. I can't think of any Japanese or German retromobiles.

This 500-HP beast is such a joke. They should be concentrating on ultra-high-mileage streamliners, and instead they give us this POS. The execs running Ford are obviously unable to see beyond the next quarterly report.

I forgot the new dodge charger.

I'm not too fond of muscle cars but I understand people liking them. But if they are perfect why mess with them.

I mean, I very much like the GT40. It is a car for which people should go to musea to worship it. To have some punk driving around in a cheap copy, is an insult to its legacy.

You have to be a gearhead to appreciate the old muscle cars. One reason you only see the Big 3 remaking the old styles is only the Big 3 have old styles that invoke the passion they do. Granted, Ferrari and a few others do, and they too have went old style on some of there cars (Shark nose on the Ferrari).
But Japan? They have shit for old styles that inspires passion.

My second car was a 380-HP '62 Impala SS 409 with a close-ratio 4-speed, 3.70 Positraction, sintered metallic brakes, etc.

I ran it on nothin' but lead-laden 100-octane Super Shell. That bad boy would smoke its tires all the way through first and most of the way through second. I'd go through a set of rears every three months.

I can dis retro muscle cars all I want...

Forget that crap!

Buy a 1995 BMW 750 instead. They are cheaper than dirt and you can have just as much fun with one of those beasts.

When Nissan reintroduced the Z a few years ago it incorporated the old retro domed hatchback of the 280ZX. Should used more like a retro grill and without the glass covering receeded headlights. Sorry Ladies, but the 1978 Datsun 280Z was a gentlemans sportscar!

A few years ago I found a 85' 300Z Turbo at a used car lot with 357K miles on it and they were asking $1,500 for it, so I test drove it. That 15yr old widowmaker was soooo fast.
