Jack The Ripper Sits At The Head Of The Chamber Of Commerce

Listening to an old collection of 60's songs that I put together for my son who requested it. Paul Butterfield was pretty hot, till Hendrix came along. Jeff Beck was strong too. Where are these instrumental geniuses anymore?

I have no idea how that topic has anything to do with music.

However, there are replacements for those geniuses coming up periodically, however they really seem to spend their time with heavier music than what the 60's and 70's offered.

Steve Vai and Joe Satriani are my two favorite newer-age guitarists. They're just sickeningly intense.

Individuals such as Eric Clapton and Peter Banks can still make appearances once in a while, too.

There are others around, but good music is harder to market than popular music. Popular music doesn't take nearly as much skill, either.

Yeah, I guess it's a little obscure: it is a line from one of the songs in the collection, Tombstone Blues by Dylan. Here's another line from that song:

Well, John the Baptist after torturing a thief
Looks up at his hero the Commander-in-Chief
Saying, "Tell me great hero, but please make it brief
Is there a hole for me to get sick in?"

The Commander-in-Chief answers him while chasing a fly
Saying, "Death to all those who would whimper and cry"
And dropping a bar bell he points to the sky
Saying, "The sun's not yellow it's chicken"
