Pretty Dyana
They hack apart Citroen Dyanes and make them into, well, Mad Max contraptions. And live off the waste produced by society. I'd like to say that they were wonderful recyclers, but just look at the squalor in which they live.
The film could do with shortening - it does go on too long, but it did give me a queasy feeling that similar lifestyles are around the corner for some of us in wealthier societies.
Moreover, it was made in 2002, and the rise in oil prices will make their scavenging non-viable IMO; interestingly, at the end one man says if the authorities confiscate his Dyana he will use a horse and cart, and that seems more viable in a PO world as long as he can graze the horse.
One of the saddest things in the film is that these people are illiterates, and don't even know who built the Dyane.
Is this the way we are going? Will some of the PHd types on this board end up recycling cardboard (tip - add water to add weight, who says films never teach you anything about life,
)
