DAMNIT!! 5.7 > 5.4

DAMNIT!! 5.7 > 5.4

Postby Specop_007 » Thu 27 Apr 2006, 21:56:17

Had to help the wife move some plants tonight. So we load up and meet another employee at the business. Load up the plants and leave. I follow him up till about 3 blocks from the freeway where I take a shortcut and beat him by quite a way to the onramp (He hit a light, I got the green through the shortcut)
We were probably 10 miles down the road when he finally got up.....

Then it was on.
5.4 Expedition bs a 5.7 Suburban
They aint exactly race cars by any stretch but its still fun to open up the big blocks and let'm have their way.
That damn 5.7 pulls pretty good. I saw him coming up fast in my rear view and hammered it when he was about to pull even. He had momentum so pulled away pretty easy, then fell back so we could try from an even run.
At 75 we hammered it and he slowly pulled away. Damn the luck. We played around for a while and one of us would sometimes get caught up in traffic.

Then we hit an open stretch and ran hard.

He may pull on me, but he governs out at 95.
I kept on it and ran way from him. 8)

Moral of the story? Size isnt everything, its where your governor is set. :-D

Spec,

You can really scare people here when you post things like that. Please think about what you're doing to the readers here before you pull the trigger on a posting such as that. :)

We need a "Best of Specop_007" sticky thread. Imagine how many gems could be gathered and posted there. Certainly this beauty would have to be included.

Wait'll I get the M3 or Vette.
Couple years, but it'll happen. I'm torn.....

I like the performance of the Vette, but the M3 beats out the Vette in every other category imaginable aside from performance and maintenance costs.

While everybody around here is freaking out and hiding in the basement I'm out living life. GO OUTSIDE! Peak Oil aint here yet, theres no zombies and mutant zombie bikers arent trying to steal your hoard of food.

Go live life man! Go to the beach, go to the park. Blast down the freeway at 110 with a fucking smile on your face!

And then tell us about it. But Christ man, quit freaking out about events out of your control. It'll give you grey hair and a limp dick.

though sometimes, 2.0 > 3.5

i used to have a Datsun Roadster, the "Fairlady". 2 liters, 135 horses, modified header, FUN to drive. that was the model Datsun/Nissan used to test the American market before they introduced their classic 240Z.

i test drove a Triumph TR-8. 3.5 liter V8, 135 horses, took it on the same roads when i test drove it. seemed like 5 seconds between the time you step on the accelerator and the time it takes off.

i also test drove an MG with a 327 V8 installed. that was fun, but i wouldn't want to own it.

see you at sears point (race track) in 2010, the alcohol fueled roller blade olympics.

At some point, after NASCAR fades away, we'll see an Indy 500 with each car limited to 25 gallons, requiring them to get at least 20 mpg.

As a lifelong "hotrodder/dragracer" (on legal courses, of course :) )

the idea of a Suburban/Expedition drag race gives me:

" grey hair and a limp dick."

LOL. There was a guy at the strip by my house who always raced his "big-block" Suburban on Friday nights. Never running quicker than a 17 second 1/4 mile (this is slower than corollas, civics, and camrys folks).

He would always have some new mod like the Tornado (fuel saver) or a K&N CAI (cold air intake) and would ask me if I thought he looked faster/ was his burnout better. I just smiled and nodded.

Jeezus man. Nothing against having fun, but at least keep your sport futility vehicle under 80 for all our benefit. Those things are unsafe as hell over 70 (some would say at any speed).

But cheers to you for posting about street racing SFVs on a Peak oil forum.! You got brass ones man!

Happy motoring!

Could have the exact opposite effect ..
NASCAR could just become the biggest
sporting events as the then non motoring
masses flock to these events to vicariously
experience the thrill of pre PO driving

Trust me, you'd rather I tear ass around in my Expy then in my RX-7.
The Expy I realize is a big hulking peice of metal and dont push it to its limits. I just haul balls in a straight line.

The 7 though....I was hell on wheels in that thing. I mean HELL on wheels.

BTW Specop_007, I bet your overweight and underpowered Yank Tank would be left in the dust by my 1.9 Turbo Diesel any day! ;)

BRING IT!
I'll get my 1.9 turbo diesel.

Although you'll probably win. The biggest 1.9 TDI we can get is the 100 hp. Europe gets the 133 and 150.
I want the 150 BAD.
