$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('peakaboo', 'H')ow about some real perspective from an arab american:

Bochen, this brave lady says it all. No other religion is like this. We're all slowly coming to realize that this "peaceful religion" claim is sheer spin and PR. It's a cruel and bloodthirsty dogma.

I can see a true world war in the future pitting Islam against all non-believers. It could eventually come to that.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('peakaboo', 'W')hen was the last time you heard of terrorists rebuilding power plants, schools and water systems and providing food to starving people all around the world?

I should point out to you that terrorism is actually a war tactic.
One man's freedom fighter is another man's terrorists. If you apply
the strict definition of 'terrorism' and not that of the FOX 4 version, you would see that America sends their own 'terrorists' to foreign lands much more than the number of terrorists who have come here to attack the U.S.

Terrorism is much like asymmetric warfare. It is a tactic deployed by the weak against the strong. That fact in and of itself should answer your question as to why 'terrorists' don't rebuild power plants, schools and water systems...

If they had that ability, they would not need to resort to terrorism in the first place. And let it also be known that America is not doing such great services for the benefit of the Iraqi people but only for its own long term self interest and political agenda of worldwide domination.

Believing in anything else would be like a kid accepting a ride from a stranger for the benefit of the candy bar. He's giving me candy so he must have my best intentions at heart, right??

Zardoz,

Like I said before, personally IMHO I don't give a damn about religion. Personally I think all religion is false and man made. I don't support any religion.

But religion is not the main issue here. Religion is NOT why we [US Army] are in Iraq. Religion is NOT why we will be in Iran. Religion is NOT why we were in Korea, or Vietnam, and its also not why we nuke Japan twice even though they were prepared to surrender.

When America fights China over oil and resources the U.S. will have to come up with something else besides 'religion' to explain away their addiction of usurping. I wonder to myself if the only the Native Indian Americans were Christians to begin with they might not have suffered their ultimate fate??? hmmm....

Religion is really not even the issue here at all. Your missing the real point. We [U.S.] are like the drug dealers who got these poor people into this hellhole and mess in the first place, and then we blame them for their condition. Wake up America! If you don't, [and I know you won't] peak oil will be your alarm clock that you can't shut off.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'R')eligion is NOT why we [US Army] are in Iraq. Religion is NOT why we will be in Iran.

You're wrong. Islam is at war with us and you're too blind to see it. And if you could take off your progressive-tinted glasses for a moment, you might be able to fathom that there could be the slightest chance, however slim in your own mind, that our military...with technology known and unknown, know just a wee bit more than the press or Mr. Chomsky on matters that threaten our country, and civilization as we now know it. All religions are a little messed up if you ask me, but this so called religion is worse than satanism, with a whole lot more followers.

And to remove my conservative glasses for a minute, which I frequently do for the sake of balance and sanity, I clearly recognize how America is viewed across the globe in terms of imperialism, capitalism and it's insatiable need for oil and incessant consumption. Why do you think I frequent these boards? This country has serious problems, starting with the way money and corporations corrupt politics at every level. Our reliance on oil and the spoiled arrogant nature of the majority of our populace has paved the way for retards like Bush to react to the threats from the Middle East like he has. If this country ran on solar, wind, tidal and biofuels do you think we'd be anywhere near the Middle East? I don't. The dollar is headed for the crapper, we're 9 trillion in debt with about 50 trillion in promises, jobs are moving overseas, illegal immigration is out of control, and no one can fix it. But we are in the battle of civilizations now, and I sure don't want to lose and find myself burned, dragged through the streets and hung from a bridge or maybe alive and praying to Mecca 5 times a day while my hairy smelly wife is busy washing all of her burkas, so we may as well face the threat now and expose the cult for what it is.

What's that? A cartoon of Mo....kill the Danes and anyone who looks like them! Yeah, that's sensible. The world is changing folks, and the good times are over.

This thread is a waste of everyone's time and energy.

Bochen787 will not stop being an unpatriotic terrorist-sympathizer.

Specop and Peekaboo won't stop fighting him.

Wouldn't it be easier to just block each other and get on with your lives?

You will never change each other's point of view. EVER. This isn't a debate or an argument. It's a two-sided rant.

-just my 2 cents.

Oh I absolutely agree. I personally would never try to actually engage with people like Specop, Peekaboo or Bochen787. However I was asking more of a sociological question. I wanted to know whether people like him/her understood the irony of what they say. His comments about Islam not being a 'religion of peace' reminded me of a rapist accusing their victim of being sexually dysfunctional. By the way, that's a metaphor, not an accusation.

I guess the only question I truly would like answered now is whether they don't understand irony because they read LGF or they read LGF because they don't understand irony.

Thankfully I don't believe in gods, and I would not normally bother commenting on this forum. I'm just here to figure out ways of profitting from what I see as an inevitable rise in the price of oil. By the way, you moderators all do a pretty good job.

Cheers from down under

I won't be back in this post anymore. People can believe what they want, it doesn't change things a bit....

It's fair to say, my purpose of starting this post is becuase I just
wanted to show American in a completely unbiased, non-opinionated and objectively truthful manner.
If the truth is stranger than fiction, or if its too much of an 'adjustment' for some to take/understand, but hows that my problem? Lots of people will never believe peak oil, doesn't mean gas prices won't keep going higher though...

There was never anything to 'debate' or 'argue' and honestly I didn't
expect to change many 'minds' I know how useless that is. I just
want to present the truth in all its glory.

I gave you people here an objective untainted truth of American.
Like I said at the beginning, know the objective truth first, then if you still want to believe what you 'wish' was true, then thats up to you, but at least know the 'truth' first, and then everything else....

Peace

Just for the record, I agree with pretty much everthing you wrote.

I think you made your point very coherently...but unfortunately, some of the responses made by certain posters above in response are beyond assinine. Bad luck, I suppose...

Anyway, thank you for your thoughtful posts.

If her logic was the case, then a prosecutor has no right to prosecute me because I don't live by their rules.

The radicalization of Islam is a direct consequence of 50 years of installing corrupt, secular dictators in the Middle East. These dictators denied just about every right imaginable to their populations. They waged war at the behest of the West. It's no wonder when these populations see the West, they look to their dictators and say they want nothing to do with this. If all you've known of the West is corruption, brutality, and oppression, why would you bother with it? Wouldn't you rather fight for your right to pave your own path? This is precisely what these resistence groups have been doing. However, along this way, the most successful of these groups have been the extremists. Moderate Muslims tried engaging in dialogue, but how do you talk to a single man who would rather die holding power than live sharing even an ounce of it? The people have seen the futility of dialogue with these dictators and have begun to embrace violence of the radicalists.

Anyways, for argument's sake, Islam's history has been far less bloody than the Christian nations. While Christianity was busy attacking each other over matters of scripture, Islam granted both Christians and Jews the right to worship in their domain. During the "Dark Ages," medicine, mathematics, astronomy, anatomy flourished under the Islam Empires. The recent languish of Islamic countries is just that, recent. Before the rise of the US as a superpower, the Islamic lands were just as innovative and techonologically advanced as the rest of the world.

I think this blog entry Fear and Loathing in the Nuttersphere neatly sums up everything that's wrong with people like peakaboo and Specops. It also gives this thread a nice full stop.

You should read it Peakaboo. LGF is specially selected for high praise.
