No facist government is going to act the way this movie portrays.

Even Hitler's government appeared sensible. This is over-the-top-bashing-it-in-your-face style. Maybe Stalin's Soviet Union was like this.

The videos done by Hurt were unwatchable, it was that bad.

It had a lot of undercurrents that reminded me of Ruppert's Crossing the Rubicon.

Cool movie. Entertaining, and it makes you think. Saw it in Berkeley where it was preaching to the choir...

I was looking at the 2008 election day (Nov. 4). If it weren't for the stupid leap year "we could have given them a 5th of November to remember" (by voting in someone competent).

I loved the movie. I had read the comic before, recommended by a friend, but I was never a big fan of the comic. The comic is very, very dark, and also very pretentious. The movie is much better, in my opinion, and the characters are more believable. Especially Evey (Nathalie Portman); she becomes a real human being in the film. Plus, the movie has some great photography.

As for the philosophical concepts in the film, I'm just waiting to see the reactions among the most conservative Americans. They look like they're going to be fun...

Only one thing puzzles me about this movie. What sort of body armor can withstand 50+ handgun shots? Any gun experts want to answer?

Well I know what my dad would say if he were here. He would tell me that 9mm is to small a round to knock down a grown man all hopped up on angel dust.

It didn't withstand it. He died like 10 minutes later. A determined man could keep himself on his feet if armor mitigated the effects of the weapons, which if you watched closely, it showed him pull out a steel plate out of his armor that was dented and had holes in it, so obviously some of the bullets bounced off and some went thru but with less penetrating force. He bled to death, but didn't die from the shock or sheer damage. Also, earlier in the movie they mentioned that the experements they did on him caused increases in the amount of damage his body could take. Admitadly the superhero response, but still, it's logical within the narritive.

So I guess he got lucky. A few bullets could have easily hit some critical points. Maybe the dumbasses who shot him should have taken turns reloading and shooting. The scene shows classic bad guy stupidity in movies, and it's the one scene that I didn't like because I thought it went too perfectly.
