Snowbound Family Survives Alone For Two Weeks

If Schweinhaxe were here he could tell us whether or not this counts as a true survival story. :P

On a similar note, I survived last weekend stuck in my basement with nothing to eat but the food in my refrigerator and pantry. I was forced to cook it on my natural gas range. Fortunately I had enough natural gas to not only cook my food, but also heat my home. Unfortunately, I had nothing but the internet, a color TV and several bookshelves full of books to keep me entertained. :roll:

That is hard core turtle. You probably won't even notice peak oil with skillz like that.

Maybe not as badass, but I survived working from home all day today with nothing but some tacos a bunch of tea and some bacon and eggs in the morning. It was pretty rugged, but I was able to take my mind off of things by surfing the web.

Ahh,

Turtle, sounds like a vacation. Try it again with the wife and kids. That's peak oil hardship.

It goes to show why storing food is a good idea, even if it's not a long-term solution. Also, how many Americans do you know who could survive a two-week snowstorm in the middle of nowhere after crashing their RV?

Certainly, if you are in a snowstorm-prone place and quite isolated. I'd store a month in that case, just to be in the safe side.

But if you live in a well-communicated town where disasters are unlikely to happen? Come on!
