Excellent - nice find!
Couple of things got me thinking after I watched it.
On how "think tanks" are guiding US policy. It illustrated nicely the disconnect between voters and what the US is doing, and it has been working so far, like that profile on the kid signing up for the military. A poor kid from NY, shit - does he have much of a choice? Like when they touched on Vietnam - the protests kicked into full gear when white middle class kids started getting smoked, it helped end that war. A few shiny pictures of the latest hardware and that kid was sold, he is now a meat shield for profiteering, an amazing system. Lots of meat in the US these days.
Eisenhower was one smart f*cker. Having seen both sides of the coin he knew the biggest problem facing the future of America was keeping the reigns on the military industrial complex, If he was around today he might be shocked at just how far things have gone? Maybe not.
The string pullers delusions of self grandeur. Many of them were interviewed and you get the sense they think it is the greatest thing since sliced bread, creating a killing machine and feeding it regularly. These people are living in a reality that %99 of the people on this planet do not share.
Anyway, great flick - the Beeb still has some of my respect
