My original point was that under an Al Gore there would not have an Irak invasion. I don't dispute the connections that Al Gore had there that you pointed towards, however I stand my point that he would not have gone into a 'pre emptive war'.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('rogerhb', '')$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('MicroHydro', 'Y')ep, I have enjoyed a 160% capital gain in the past 12 months, quietly taking advantage of human stupidity.

In the bank? As gold? Still as a worthless paper 'evaluation on house value'? Realised as extracting more money by raising another loan on the paper evaluation?

Unless your wealth is in tangible assets that retain their value, money is not a safe store, eg remember hyperinflation, secondly property rights mean nothing if the situation changes eg, Communist government, gold sequestration, Pol Pot back to year 1 etc.

Agree and have already taken precautions. It is possible that the US eventually will freeze foreign NYMEX accounts and screw the investors.

I withdrew my original nest egg in January 2006 and bought bullion. So the virtual money left riding in the futures market is all "house money" as they say at the casino. Even if all the electronic money gets lost or stolen, I will still have the bullion value of my original savings account.

Micro,

Hope that bullion is sitting in your basement or out in the yard in a nice hidey hole or else it will be someone elses when TSHTF. I'm personally on the verge of doing the gold thing also. I don't believe we have a whole lot of time left for "normal" investment here in the states.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'I') started telling folks and they call me a traitor, unpatriotic, a commie, whatever…

Some went as far as to threaten… and to the point where the law visited me, like witch hunting, you know?

Yep, I was told (by a family member) that I was un-American and a traitor. That if I didn't like the country I should leave it

They agreed that the country was going to shit but that it was the fault of the liberals, illegal aliens, Arabs, environmentalists, whatever.

Best to keep your mouth shut. Especially once the shit does hit the fan and there are lots of angry people looking to place the blame on someone. They might go so far as to turn you into the goverment as a domestic terrorist if you start talking the truth.

Your ahead of time. To post on a forum like this will be an activity of the past....

Moderators: how far can we go either way in our mind sets- the past as well as the future???

I agree with you conception of holding the 'mouth shut'. Considering we're talking PeakOil it shouldn't be all that difficult to coprehend unless you are a bloody newcommer which you don't seem to be.

So hold up the good spirit and keep going.
