New toy for an energy powerdown

Unread postby PrairieMule » Tue 14 Feb 2006, 13:27:29

At home I listen to the radio a lot. In fact I like altenative radio. I get my junk food fix for the mind on Coast to coast and Alex Jones similar to how some folks like to watch the train wreck that is the Jerry Springer Show. Last week I picked up one of these winding multiband short wave radio. It takes about 60 cranks to get 1 hour. 3-4 hours a night over 1 week I figure would have normally burned through a pack of AA Duracels.

Mule, what is that Single Sideband Jazz that I hear about on the SW broadcasts. Is it required to pick up some shows? Does this radio do that?

Thx,

GNM,

I think I know what you are talking about. The tuner has 2 knobs, one on top of the other. The 2nd one fine tunes the reception on the short wave. This thing picks up great reception. I tuned in to Alex Jones out of a station in Tennesse last night. Anyways, a caller proclamed he had evidence that Cheney and the NWO run secret hunting preseves for "The Ultimate Hunt" [smilie=qright7.gif] . I dunno, I thought they do better than a 78 yr old attorney [smilie=bduh.gif] . Very high on the Hocus Pocus factor which means high entertainment.

I tried to find a windup CD player once and looked around but couldn't find one. Might be nice to listen to some Vivaldi as the world crashes and burns. Remember that cool thread?

Yeah, I'm thinking at least I can listen to some music while I'm in the cold, dark, and starving.

Couldn't find a Grundig wind-up over here but there is the Freeplay Summit.

At about $75 it is a little expensive.

I picked it up at Radio Shack for $39.99. You can order it at their website if the store is out.
