It's the most expensive Turkish movie yet, and has been a huge hit in Turkey. It's been said it's anti-american because it has American soldiers as the bad guys. (To it's credit, good U.S. soldiers get shot.) There's alot of context to the movie you need to know about which I think this website gets right, mostly (I see some weirdness to this source).

It'll be showing in Europe and the U.S. soon enough. I think this is some kind of anti-thesis to the muslim cartoon riots. I don't think we'll be seeing any riots; mostly because the super-patriots are too fat and lazy to get off their asses (and besides, protesting is for hippies). I also don't expect a media blitz. So it probably won't do well. I expect only a showing on the blogosphere...

What is a bit under reported in the western media is that the film orginated as response to actual event where US troops hooded Abu Greib style their NATO Turkish friends on some mission inside Iraq..
So this movie will seal the growing popular sentiment of Americans as being complete infidels who betray friends, torture muslim civilians and so forth.. This is gonna be a blockbuster in the ME..
