Hail all ye from down here in Australia. This question goes out to US citizens who follow politics.

I've just finished a discussion with a mate, where we were discussing the likelihood of Mr Bush's re-election.

I suggested that if the economy hasn't hurt him seriously by this point, it's not going to get any worse. The question that arose, however, is that of how the Bush vs Clinton election looked 1 month out in 1992.

So, can anyone remember the feeling in the electorate in 1992? Were the polls neck and neck with 2 weeks to go? Had people already made up their minds because of the economy? Was the twin deficits already a talking point?

I hope folks here can give me an idea about all this. Thanks for your views.

Honestly, it would be so hard to call at this point i have no idea which way to scrore this one. Kerry kicked bushes ass in the debates, but the problem is so few people are going to change their votes its honestly a matter of who's base shows up on voting day.

I really think it will be either Iraq or some sort of public blunder that will make the difference. I have no idea which one it will be. Wish i knew.

As I recall Clinton was way ahead of BushI in the polls. Even then, I personally couldn't stand Clinton because he reminded me so much of so many fallen from grace, hypocritical televangelist. Today it seems to me that they all (politicians) try to emulate Clintons preachyness but, on the other hand, maybe they've all done it all along with the exception being that Clinton/Bush was the first election I ever really paid attention to. There was of course the Ross Perot factor during that race too. Perhaps without Ross, Bush would have won in a landslide.
You observed it from the start
Now you’re a million miles apart
As we bleed another nation
So you can watch you favorite station
Now you eyes pop out your sockets
Dirty hands and empty pockets
Who? You!
