How much oil is actually produced?

Unread postby Twinsen » Wed 25 Jan 2006, 20:37:53

I've spent a while now trying to find some concensus in how much oil is produced per year and the break down of country by country production.

I've come accross really varied numbers and I was wondering why this is so. I realise that reserves are very hard to accurately determine but surely actual production rates should be out there? I've seen numbers ranging from 75 MBD to 85MBD for 2004-2005.

Can anyone provide some numbers that are actually likely to be correct as well as country by country production rates over the last 5 years?

THanks

Twinsen -

if you've not already done so, have a look at the ASPO site for the data you want -

Given that their whole chance of being taken seriously rests on the accuracy of the base-data they use,
I'd count it as being very reliable up to the extent of any qualifications they put on its accuracy.

Backtop,

Can you tell me where exactly on the ASPO site it states how much is produced and by which country etc?

Thanks

Twinsen -

Nope - but I recall they have country reports and also some detailed overviews of the global position.

Happy hunting!

Look for the report by ASPO Netherlands, by PO member Taskforce_Unity. That shoud give you enough to chew on...
