There is NEVER just one mouse. You may have only seen one but I gar-un-tee there are more.

You probably don't have the hanta variety if you are in an urban area but you still don't want them pissing in your cornflakes!

I feeling this is not going to end up well for the mouse. The new tone on clemency in California set by Gov.Schwarzenegger is not in favor of the mouse.

Glue traps are suitable for mice but not rats. Once caught, pouring mineral oil will release him from the glue trap. If you decide on a spring trap pay a little more than the wooden ones and get Tomcat brand plastic trap at home depot, they are easier to set.

For god sakes man, DO NOT TRY TO DISPATCH IT WITH A CROSSBOW. I tried that once and now I have new shelf in my garage covering the hole.
If you give a man a fish you will have kept him from hunger for a day. If you teach a man to fish he will sit in a boat and drink beer all day.

 Good advice! I went after one with a shovel out in the shed and that didn't end well for one of my lanterns... AND the mouse got away.

hmmmm I haven't tried those plastic ones... but I will... :-D

Yes, it's true. Only it was a Norweigan roof rat not a mouse. I did not "lead" the rat far enough with the crossbow and it was deflected from the concrete to the drywall. My 3 year seasonal war with the rats could be defined as both a Greek Tragedy or a Greek Comedy. I learned quickly about rats under the tudorship of the orkin man. Now my orkin man was a Jamiacan midgit named Peter.

"Oh' Meeesta Edwards, we be gettun calls about ja rats, all over Da Colony and Frisco"

PMS-

Wow, thats very mean and flamboyant rat. Close, but our rats here are a little less flamboyant than the ones in San Francisco. Know what I mean? Our rats her in Texas dont have earrings or role play in costumes. I'm not judging, just saying...

Boy I have really been sheltered.

this whole rat/mouse/other rodent vs. human battle must be a guy thing. I saw my darling hubby wage war against a few harmless chipmunks who wanted to share our garage this summer. chipmunks are adorable and do not damage...other than digging a little in the sand between the walkway and the garage...but you would think they were devouring the entire house the way hubster went at them.

sheesh, if he only put so much energy into the lawn or painting the house, or even keep the garage that he was so valiantly defending clean I could understand it.

Yeah you need a snap trap or you are just wasting time with the others.
Plus the sound of the snap gives a sense of accomplishment.
To catch a mouse, you have to think like a mouse.
He will run along the baseboards behind cabs and furniture,go in kitchen drawers,so thats where the trap goes.
And better to put out more than one trap.

For rats,you need a speargun.
Put out the bait, wait, and harpoon his ass.
Big powerful air powered speargun.

No No, just mule humor. What's the update on the score? Did you decide to go with snap or glue traps?

glue traps put down yesterday. Considering that I first saw the mouse a week ago, and only very fleeting glimpses, by yesterday they (yes gandalf was right) were becoming very brazen. I saw two of them running around like they owned the place when I got home with the traps. So I laid the glue traps down and just a little while later, one was snared. Then I didn't see the other guy. I think they suddenly realized there was danger. I will be interested to see if I've got another onr trapped when I get home later today.

I once left the lid off a half-gallon jar of strawberry jam and a mouse crawled in and drowned in the stuff. What a way to go. Now the question is:
Did I throw the jam out or just spoon the mouse corpse out without a word to anyone else? You KNOW the answer, don't you?

The new stuck mouse was just sitting there, unable to move, occasionally thrashing about. I gave it a quick chop with a yard stick and put it out of its misery. Probably mates. Now I have to wonder, given what gandalf was saying, if there's a bunch of baby mice down at the bottom of my stove. :? Reminds me of the old urban legend about the earwig going through some guy's head and laying eggs. :-x (BTW, I see there are still a few votes trickling in - forget it folks, the vermin are already dead!)
