You don't often see writing like this anymore. It's worth the read on that count alone. But it's also a powerful political and social broadside,a look at the gears that make the Empire Strike Back. The Human Species

truly extraordinary, thank you. I am amongst that over-educated liberal class he refers to. However, i grew up a semi-Mutt, and many of the Mutts i am friends with today will know how to work together and help deal with the situation when PO hits big time infinitely better than my so-called "educated" acquaintances.

I suspect that most of them will be murdered by their fellow rednecks over the last remaining meth "rocks".

I would have to say good read!!!
.I grew up in a small town population:1,200.I contemplated joing the miltary,to get out of there ,but luckily I had a mom that lived in san diego.I called her when I was 19 and got the hell out.
I can definitely say I was a mutt,I grew up in a family of six and everyone of my siblings had a different last name because each one of us had one different parent. It was very complicated to explain. We always had a car that barely ran and were always moving to new houses because of evictions.I have plenty of stories ,but the point is I can definitely relate to that article.

I thought this ballsy kind of writing was extinct. It's good to know from those who have lived the life it's exact.Every empire needs its impoverished underclass to fill army boots. If anything shows what a waste that is,this guy's writing is it.

Good article. I didn't feel like he put forth a very accurate portrayal of why poor rural whites are so ultra-nationalistic, but I think he makes so excellent points about class discrimination and liberalism.

Along the same lines: The Redneck Manifesto

essence of the message:
$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'A')t some point down the road all the Montessori schools and Ivy League degrees in the world are not going to save your children and grandchildren from what our intellectual peasantry, whether born of neglect or purposefully maintained, is capable of supporting politically. We’ve all seen the gritty black and white newsreels from the 1930s.

From the same writer:

Joe Bageant: Have we finally become the dumbest mofos on the planet? What the 'Left Behind' books really mean, The Smirking Chimp, December 19, 2005

"If a Muslim were to write an Islamic version of last book in the Left Behind series, Glorious Appearing, and publish it across the Middle East, Americans would go berserk. Yet tens of millions of Christians eagerly await and celebrate an End Time when everyone who disagrees with them will be murdered in ways that make Islamic beheading look like a bridal shower. Jesus -- who apparently has a much nastier streak than we have been led to believe -- merely speaks and "the bodies of the enemy are ripped wide open down the middle." ... This may be some of the bloodiest hate fiction ever published, but it is also what tens of millions of Americans believe is God's will. It is approximately what everyone in the congregation sitting around me last Sunday at my brother's church believes. Or some version of it. How can anyone acquire and hold such notions? Answer: The same way you got yours and I got mine. Conditioning. From family and school and society, but from within a different American caste than the one in which you were raised. And from things stamped deep in childhood -- such as coming home terrified to an empty house." (12/20)

This is a must read article for any suburbanite thinking they can "Bug Out" to the hills if TSHF of what they will encounter. Just goes as in any survival situation the best answer is to stay put. It also brings to light skin color is not automatic free pass. Each month I run up to our family ranch near Hugo, Oklahoma and I still get the eye from locals every time I go to the grocery store because I have the stink of Dallas on me. I have been going there for 28 years and may never blend in. If so many people that are going nowhere are overun by the "Haves" and "Haves through financing" that now are downtrodden you may see an violent dynamic of "White On White". Guess which side grew up with guns and has more Gulf war vets? Guess which side is going to adapt during economic hard times?
