neurolinguistic programming

NLP has been developed in the USA in the end 60's or 70's, I don't know much about it but here is an excellent explanation of how NLP techniques are being used in contemporary American politics:

Hey guys, I thought this is a forum of the sharpest minds. Any explanation why this extremely relevant topic gets only ONE response as compared to Montes "End of the World" scenarios over the period of a YEAR (please note the date of pthe original post).

We have a situation here I fear, neglicence of the real issues as compared to fluff and puff of the virtual world. Are we adults after all as prone to virtual realms just as the youngsters are in diving into their video realities?

Well, here the continuation of my started thread. There is of course the good old Jose Silva who was and is the frontrunner on mindcontrol, as much as John Lilly worked in that direction, too.

In one of his practices (and the forest is not all that dense, as much as "silva" means forest in latin) he talks about a double video. First one visualizes an issue and secondly one delivers a solution. You drop it off and within 72 hours there is some sort of an answer if only one is attentive enough.

This kind of knowledge, neurolinguistic programming, has been around forever, just under different names: rhetoric, propaganda, poetry, etc.

It's not just political, verbal hocus-pocus is the basis of religion and law.
That's why general semantics will never be taught in public schools.

How many on this site have their own personal copy of:

Is that "sharp" enough for ya?

Is that what this is about? Trying to impress other disembodied minds?

I'm not ready, wolf, to think in neurological electrocolloidal terms. Bu this is interesting, the old modernist faith in iatrogenic 'cures'. Nowadays they just use drugs, don't they?

use drugs? why not? I do. I burned myself out trying to construct coherent self-referencing models. Consciousness is like being trapped in a hall of mirrors.

Consciousness is like watching and waiting for a gopher to pop out of a gopher-hole. (the drugs - I meant don't the shrinks just prescribe drugs now instead of trying 'talking cures'?)

Bandler... Structure of Magic I && II

Recommended reading... it will put you to sleep heh heh, but explains the grammar quite well.

Seen him, he does GREAT seminars.... one of the funniest human beings alive.

Can it be used politically.... pretty obviously yes. How else do you explain Bush... bottom line, once you understand the technique.... you know what to look for and the bamboozling process is that much harder, but will it help the common folk... don't know. We shall certainly see... if Rove gets nailed... Bush is toast.

Don't know about shrinks. I "self-medicate". I still talk to myself but I hardly listen anymore.

NLP:

Teacher: Today we will study Kepler's Laws of Planetary Motion. We will apply these laws to calculate the orbital data of the orbit of Uranus.

Class: (giggling) Har har, the teacher said Uranus! ha ha!
