Crazy Idea, but here goes...

If a solution can't be found to the Peak Oil crisis, then why not work on statis instead?

I mean, they have(although I don't have link, you can google it, but it's like in the BBC archives) effectively raised animals from the dead, who were in cryogenic statis, why not humans?

There are many problems to be discussed and dealt with, but one could simply go to Antartica, or some other frozen wasteland, that you know will be frozen enough to preserve statis, and in a sense, sit Peak Oil out.

Imagine, in five thousand years, if people haven't solved the energy problems, then they will be virtually in the stone age, metals will have decayed and have been depleted, civilization will virtually completely collapse, essentially, life will be able to start anew without anyone having any major technological advances, except for yourself.

The communities that do exist, will have to be, in some way, sustainable. If people don't learn to create sustainable communities, they will all die off, allowing nature to heal itself.

Over time, life will be replenished, and the world may go back the way it was.

The only significant difference, is that y'all will have enough technology to create a civilization with a much greater capacity than your neighbors, and you wouldn't have to worry about advanced fascist governments, governments that exist would probably be using medieval weapons, or even more primitive weaponry.

Anyway, just an idea, a crazy one at that, but kinda interesting.

Well...It's a lot more sane than Lorenzo trying to save the world with biofuels from "Mystery Crop X". Still a few problems.

1. It is generally agreed that the technology doesn't exist to successfully freeze and restore a human being at this time. The people who are into having themselves frozen, as I understand it, are hoping for some sort of leap in nano-technology that would be able to repair the damage from freezing and revive them.

2. As I understand it, the people who are into cryogenic preservation agree that you should be stored in liquid nitrogen. That's -320 F. The coldest temperature ever recorded on earth was -129F at Vostok, Antarctica.

3. Global warming

4. With the sort of run away overpopulation that we are facing, why on earth would anyone in the future want to thaw your butt out just to have one more mouth to feed.

You could have a machine on a timer, and you could have multiple, other people in your group, so that unless each person's timer failed(which might happen), then you'd be able to be woken up.

The other problems I don't know about.
