Yes, but what are you going to do? It's the internet. Use the ignore key.

The problem is, of course, that not only is economics bankrupt, but it has always been nothing more than politics in disguise... economics is a form of brain damage.

I predicted six months ago that Peal Oil would be invaded. People are just beginning to wake up to PO and first stage of the wake up process is denial. I have noticed a series of stages people go through after discovering the truth about peak oil and have modeled them after the stages of death anxiety.

1: Denial - We don't have a problem here PO does not exist and I can proove it types.
2: Anger - It is all the big multinational corporations fault OR Its all the environmentists fault if only we could mine more coal or build more nukes
3: Bargaining - There has got to be a techno cure all somewhere in all this OR we will conserve our way out of this with elecrtic cars and off grid homes and PO will be good because we will get back to basics.
4: Fear - Die-off is comming and I am buying ammo because the world is ending.
5: Accepance - All civilizations fall at some time, it was just ment to be OR Lets all live it up while we still can for soon the party really will be over.

Right now there is a huge influx of people in the early stages of the PO awareness process and I expect there are a lot more on the way. There is going to be a lot of Denial and Anger coming here very shortly if it is not already lurking in the shadows.

Its a natural progression, it happened to Indymedia, has happened on >dozen lists i know of.. a cooperative (if divided) group works its way thru interesting information and discussions, they often develop new views, and are then set upon by the near infinite number of empty vessels out there looking for something to attack (hi specop!).
They feel safe knowing they're doing their masters bidding, and so return again and again to vent some of their bile. Its a drag, but hey, at least they can't beat their kids at the same time.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('ElijahJones', 'T')his is a theory but I thought I would see how many feel the same way. It seems to me that we hav ebeen invaded by a group of folks, organized or not it does not matter, who really think what we do here is nonsense and take every chance they can to interject nonsense into threads that would otherwise be very insightful and might even help us to organize. How mayn of you feel the same way and how bad is the problem?

I cry myself to sleep everytime I bump into someone who doesn't agree with me on everything.

What will arrive first? Peak Oil or the Second Coming? My money is now on the latter.

One person's "nonsense" is another person's cogent argument...

Who is attempting to organise and what is being organised? I've missed those threads, I guess....

just point at the offenders, scream heretic...be sure to roll your eyes for good effect and then the site elders can burn them at the digital stake.

How is that for a solution?

To me the worst devaluation of the site is a news editor who is always posting geeky golly gee whiz puff pieces about miracle technofixes just around the corner. I wish the IGNORE button would make these news posts go away.

This news editor has never violated the COC, but to me is definitely the worst person on the site.
