I guess I can relate to that. I am just not sure that is a new phenomena. However, I may be to young to comment on this topic as I grew up postmodern.

But when I look back at the TV shows of the 50's, 60's and 70's I do not grasp that they are trying for something sublime....it was just TV, some was done well, other stuff was just plain bad.

I am not so convinced that this is a timeline thing more than it is just a human thing.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('SinisterBlueCat', 't')ake off your rose colored glass for a minute.   My mom said there were plenty of bad movies in the 50's. Here are some she listed

Plan Nine From Outer Space, Robot Monster, The Girl in Gold Boots...I have never seen these, but she said they stunk.

I did see It Came From Outer Space...that was pretty poor. How about Godzilla's Revenge?

Maybe, we just think movies were better back then because we remember all of the good ones, and forget all the stinky ones..?

Kind of like music, some people I know think 70's music is the bomb, it was all great music and nothing good has come since. Well, there is some pretty bad 70's music.

Maybe we just get a little stuck in our own era's and we tend to look back at music and films from that time with a little to much nostalgia ...?

I said girl!
with the Gold Boots on!
I said girl!
with the Gold Boots on!

And when I kiss your lips
your loving fingertips
everything I touch turns to gold.

I said girl!
with the Gold Boots on!
I said girl!
with the Gold Boots on!

That is my favorite trash camp film of all time! It's right up there with She Devils on Wheels and Scream! Blacula scream!.

and then, there is always the matter of taste. One (wo)mans stinky movie is another man's trash camp dream flick!

Workes both ways cat! My wife's favorite movie is not Dangerous Liasons or When Harry Met Salley but rather Valley Girl. I found it on DVD for valentines day last year. Your right about bad taste, these movies are like donuts or potato chips, they offer no value but we just gobble um up once or twice a year. I'd hate have to write a thesis for girl with the Gold boots on.

But if I did, it would be: Critter,Is the man of Yesterday the ubersexual of tommorow? Or Maybe, GO-Go Clubs: the glorious final death of vaudville dancers.
