Do they snicker behind your back and call you "Doomsday Boy"?
What will arrive first? Peak Oil or the Second Coming? My money is now on the latter.

It's not a problem for me because I never leave my bunker (unless I'm going to pick up an ammo shipment or something).

My family, food co-op friends, and co-workers at the U. think I'm the Messiah.

I don't open my mouth about this stuff to my Fire/EMT comrades, or to my neighbors (except one older couple in-the-know).

Even 99.9% of you would think I was stark raving mad :8O:
I can still recall my 'elders' thinking me strange in my last year at primary school in 1968 when we had a debate on whether ufos where
real or not and I first realised that people were still debating whether there
was even other planets revolving around other stars let alone whether other lifeforms existed not only in our solar system but in others or if there was a possibility that some of them would be more advanced than us.....It's why I don't talk about most of this stuff to many people
I couldn't get past veil 2 with almost anyone I know
Hard enough bringing up peak oil, resource depletion, climate change etc :x:

Not to mention the near death experience, experiments in astral travelling, telepathy and conversations with the mushroom in the 70's and 80's :8):

Slavery and the eight veils

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'E')xtremely evil men and women who make up the world's power-elite have cleverly cultivated a virtual pasture so grass green that few people seldom, if ever, bother to look up from where they are grazing long enough to notice the brightly colored tags stapled to their ears.

The same people who cannot see their enslavement for the pasture grass have a tendency to view as insane “conspiracy theorists” those of us who can see the past the farm and into the parlor of his feudal lordship's castle.

Anyone else here past the 6th veil

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'I')f my math is accurate there are only about 60,000 people on the planet who have pierced the sixth veil. The irony here is too incredible: Those who are stuck behind veils one through five have little choice but to view the people who have pierced the veils beyond them as insane. With each veil pierced, exponentially shrinking numbers of increasingly enlightened people are deemed insane by exponentially increasing masses of decreasingly enlightened people.

Adding to the irony, the harder a “sixth or better veiler” tries to explain what he is able to see to those who can't, the more insane he appears to them.

We have tried with our first creatures but we could not make them venerate us.

Skiwi, the world is not run by "evil" people, even if there are some countries still run by bad bastards. In my experience the industrialised world is run by folk who are clever, conceited, prima-donna types who respect the rules as the rules have generally been made for their level. They tend to be expedient, compliant to the culture from which they draw their power, they can be ruthless, but they have to beware of a bad press. Their main fault is that they are creatures of the system and thus are saturated by the system, its flaws, moral vacuity, unconscious self-destructive cancer-recklessness. It is not in their interest to change it, by and large. But they are not evil.

Very good point, I sometimes wish that there was a kind of conspiracy, a "new world order" - it would mean at least some kind of control, while the total lack of control, aimless animal-like reproduction, has gotten us into this mess in the first place.

I think the conspiracy-people are driven by the same type of wishful thinking, somebody has to be blamed, somebody has to be in charge. Instead, it's all of us and nobody who is guilty. The conspiracy is us.

The same thing with the demonizing of intelligence agencies.
I think most people would be incredibly disappointed if they were allowed to take a look inside such an apparatus.
It's like every other beaurocracy, apart from the paperwork mostly consisting of petty intrigues.

These are good points. MI6 (or MI5 can never remember) advertised job vacancies in the national press about 10 years ago. They can't even do their own head hunting.

I've heard ex-intelligence people talk about the majority of work as boring, routine stuff.

But yes, my friends and co workers do think I've gone nuts. I often wish I'd never mentioned it.

There's an old saying something along the lines of "never attribute to evil what can be explained by simple stupidity." I think of that often. There are evil people running some things, but most of what we think of as evil can be eplained by stupdity and self-interest. (IMHO)
