Everyone is doom and gloom....we are going to have riots, food shortages, no heat, ect........I say we are going to be just fine.... don't underestimate the good old USA! What are gas prices now..$2.25...we just had a major hurricane practically wipe out our refineries and guess what we got through it!!! We had terrorists attack New York and guess what.....we are just fine! We are a country of brilliant minds and determination. The powers that be know all this "peak Oil" stuff and they are preparing for it behind the scenes. People going into survivalist mode need to relax. I'm sure we will have some tight times with our energy, but the most brilliant minds in the country are on top of it so chill a little.

Back again! I didn't know everyone would "rip me a new one" for my post. I've seen the End of Suburbia, read The Long Emergency, just read the Rainwater Prophecy, saw Syriana and read many articles at peak oil message boards. At first I was so taken back with the whole topic I went out to look at wood burning stoves ( which I will purchase in the spring...most models are on backorder for 6-8 weeks) A friend of mine who is an electrician is taking classes on installing solar panels. I think it is great! I am going to do my part with the wood stove. I live in a town where I can walk to the main street area and all the schools. I even wrote to my town's development board recommending the End of Suburbia.
What I meant by my original post was that I do BELIEVE there is alot going on that we don't know about. I know people have their beefs with the goverment, but we have elected and individuals have been appointed that are the top in their fields. Matt Simmons was once on Bush's committee. If the government starts talking peak oil, the general masses are going to panic. I have read a few posts on this board that sound like the person is about to lose it. I wasn't trying to offend anyone here
