Heard some fascinating Aztec or was it May legends about black ocean in the Gulf etc. before end-of-time (i.e. huge oil spills)
Don't remember all the details, but has anyone here recently read any of these that match into out peak oil era?

The Maya calendar seems to end with the expected major effects o peak oil. Explanation I heard on documentary was that the end of the calendar symbolises the end of an era during which time humanity must chose heaven or hell. Like to remember that it was part of the prophecy (perhaps inca or aztec if not maya) that the world would become slaves to technology and it would become its doom unless we managed to breakfree and learn to live in harmony with the world.

Don't have to believe it all to be fascinating/exciting stories to read.

By the way HOPI Link Link didn't seem to work.

I skimmed though the article and am not so certain as of why this certain Dr. Allan Ross is all from a sudden the speaker of the tribe.
It got especially fishy with the UFO remark at the end, which is where I usually close the doors for business.

Thank You orycteropus afer (aka Albente), for the comment.
Haven't seen your quivering snout responses for some time now and I must say I've missed them.
I am always looking for a head's up on what is to come, but after this weekend (weatherwise-uneventfull but it could have been challenging), I'm planning for an uncertain future-as per usual.
Savoring the vestigial life as we know it,

Oh shit, that Hopi prophecy says the United States will be destroyed by nuclear bombs. Sometimes I really wished I could get the hell out of this country and just live on some tropical island somewhere. :(

Honestly though a quick dieoff with nuclear bombs would be more humane than starvation, diesease, lack of clean water, exposure to weather, and all the other shit we are facing. As long as you are where the blast takes place so you go out quickly and not from the radiation effects.

To hell with that, I'd much rather take my chances. Nucs are the worst thing ever.

Well this sorta ties in with some "strange" unexplained stuff.

Bradshaw rock art, is ancient, older than any other surviving "art" in the world. The biggest mystery is it just showed up complete and detailed in everyway with no record of the artists "learning" how to make them.

Then they went through a process of de-evolving in to simpler art before disappearing altogether.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'I') skimmed though the article and am not so certain as of why this certain Dr. Allan Ross is all from a sudden the speaker of the tribe.

Albente,

Who Dr Allen Ross? is he a "loon"? I've never heard of him before. There seems to be a common link though, in most ancient and not so ancient religions/beliefs that we/someone came from the stars/space/time and will return when the time is right( take your pick at which religion)

Maybe religious teaching "books" written a couple of hundred years ago might bend and distort the truth for our needs (greedy humans) but how can you argue against "records" left over 20 000 years ago, damn there isn't even any pigment on the rock faces any more

I live in this area and can also "feel" something when visiting these sites, they are extremely powerful, but I have no knowledge of how to "use" these sites. The local aboriginal culture like most ancient culture's is fast becoming "lost" for this and following generations.

They must have been onto something 8O

And now with resource depletion, over population, biosphere destruction and related joys their message seems to be a little more...well...pertinent

Post peak we will need a common sense of past and future to survive. We are one in the same, we have a common past and our future is also tied together. These older beliefs had this worked out, why can't we smart, advanced race see this? :x This is our doom.

60000 or so years vs 200yrs post industrialization. Mmmm....I'll put my money on the former and learn to adapt to that way of thinking. This paradigm is over. We will go thru the Hopi's third shaking and maybe next time round we will have evolved enough to not treat our common mother(Earth) like adolescent teenagers that are drunk for the first time.
