That's more progressive than the UK where they rank the male offspring first. Similarly in the US of A, George II's girls have no chance of becoming empresses.

They are changing the law in Spain about the heirs to the throne, but I understand that the plan is that the current male heir will stay the heir, in spite of being the third child, while his daughter will become queen, if there is still royalty in Spain by then.
